It has been a small forever since I last took Roy for a "walk" in the backyard. Last time we went out, he smelled something that made him aggressive. Shortly after that, I had to have surgery. So it's been awhile. Today seemed nice and I realized I had put it off long enough.
The garden of potted vegetable plants on the deck was new, but didn't merit much investigation. He sniffed a bit, then carried right on down the stairs.
It was bright and I couldn't see my phone screen clearly, so we ended up with a random assortment of pictures.
While sniffing all the smells, Roy often stopped for a rest. This might be the one good pic of his face.
Today's (re)discoveries include flowers, wind, shadows, and...
A grasshopper. (Not pictured: the grasshopper Roy found. He kept seeing it jump, but lost it the moment it landed.)
We ended where we started, on the deck, but this time Roy caught the scent of something underneath. Probably a chipmunk. He couldn't get to it, so eventually he gave up and asked to go back inside. Overall, it was a good walk.
