Finally completed my redraw of my original drawing of my Avari Elf oc Guiying. She has really come a long way. Like, she has a fiancee/betrothed now. I included a little character colour palette on the drawing cause I'll be adding her to my Art Fight characters. Fun fact: I stole her hair and eye colour from Hetalia China lmao.

Here's another Nature of Middle-Earth quote that I keep thinking about:

"[Years of the Trees:] 2223. The "Ambassadors" return. Great Debate of the Quendi. A few refuse even to attend. Imin, Tata, and Enel are ill-pleased, and regard the affair as a revolt on the part of the youngest Quendi, to escape their authority. None of the First Elves (144) accept the invitation. Hence the Avari called and still call themselves "the Seniors"." (NoME 96)

I think that's super interesting! Tolkien gives multiple potential versions of this whole sequence, when the Three Ambassadors return to Cuiviénen, so this is only one of them, but it's kind of my favorite. I like the idea that the Three Ambassadors sort of usurped the leadership of the Three Fathers, and that Imin, Tata, and Enel are potentially still out there, and may have a grudge against those three descendants of theirs.

Imin especially is a pretentious asshole, as he claims to be the "Father of all Quendi", and seems to want control over all the Elves. I want to write a fic where Morgoth or Sauron ally with Imin, maybe they tell him they can help him regain his authority over the Elves? It would certainly be an interesting premise if the Three Fathers showed up at Valinor or Beleriand one day, with the intent of taking back their kingship.

It's also always been bizarre to me that Fëanor was so worried about Fingolfin usurping the throne when Finwë was king in a place where kings do not die, and do not really need heirs (theoretically). But if Finwë was a usurper before Fingolfin was, then Fëanor's fears have a bit more ground, I think, especially if Fingolfin had the greater love from their people. It's happened before, Fëanor would think, therefore it could happen again. Elves seem to follow who they prefer as a king rather than who technically has the most claim, which is shown both in the Three Ambassadors vs the Three Fathers, and also with Fëanor vs Fingolfin during the Flight.

The Avari;; Hwenti

Known to themselves as the Hwe’ng’tî or Mumumī, Hwenti are a mountain tribe of Avari, living within and around the Andrast Mountain Range, ruled by king Tane. The Hwenti are a fishing, hunter-gatherer peoples. They are split up into the categories of Nga’ǎ mumumī  (”beach people”, those living in houses along the shoreline of the Andrast), ’efofǎnema mumumī (”Ground people”, those that live in-between the mountains on the ground), hīneika’ Lælǎ mumumī (”field people”, those that live near but not in the Andrast, usually on the plains near Gondor), tukāmi mumumī (”Cliff people”, the most numerous, those who live on the cliffsides of the Andrast), and the vako mumumī (”Cave people”, the least numerous, those who reside in caves within the mountains) . These subsections are governed in their respective spaces by clan leaders, nīhū humumī, who govern varying sizes and populations of communities, and may ally themselves with or against other clans, although the latter is looked down upon and less common. While there is no overarching regality as a whole, the largest and most powerful of these communities is ruled by “King” Tané, part of the Cliff clan, and near the tip of the Andrast.

The Hwenti are at odds with other peoples that also reside in the mountains, such as the  Drúedain, of whom they sporadically ally and antagonize themselves with. Orcs and Uruks are also known to torment the Hwenti regularly, as well as the occasional Corsair raid. The Hwenti have little to no relationship with peoples far away from the Andrast, as they rarely travel outside of the area besides for trade along the coast, or if a member has been banished from the community. Main exports for trade include fish, pearls, furs, and timber. Hwenti are known for their fierceness in battle, and their culture has come to value a warrior society to keep themselves safe from those that would harm them. However, they are also known to be a tolerant, hospitable, and community oriented culture, with emphasis placed on family and societal harmony. Very few outsiders are fluent in their language, but it is said they have been influenced by and have influenced Numenorian dialects.

The avar'i always greet newcomers and all whom visit them and their planet Avanishera. The greeting is composed of forming a bright orb within their hands. the orb begins to shine gently with the stars the ava that is doing the greeting, is in connection with. The stars however appear like glowing flickering lights. the lights mimic the lights of fire flies. the greeting is a traditional greeting and is often used when saying hello and good bye to anyone that meets with a ava

Guiying's fiancée which I forgot what I called. Anyways. He's the prince of thier people.

Guiying does foreign politics while he does internal politics lol.

He has reddish hair and grey eyes. And wears blue and green. This is also like my 10th time trying to draw a design I liked for him lmao.

Version 1 of a formal wear type outfit for Guiying. It was a bit hard figuring out how I wanted to portray the translucent capelet (it's silk btw) but it turned out pretty good.

I forgot to add makeup, but this is more about the outfit. This is based on the more modern version of the cheongsam. So the long, slender type dresses. I picture a more flowy bottom for easy movement. Also an embroidered dai (the silk belt) as well.
