“The Usual Time“

From Eric Ambel’s 2004 “odds-&-sods” collection Knucklehead. He’s played with Joan Jett, The Del Lords, the Yay-hoos, and Steve Earle, among others, and he’s run the boards for The Bottle Rockets, The Backsliders, and Nils Lofgren, among others. He’s also put out a couple of really well-done, fun roots rock-ish albums when he’s had the time.

Steve Earle wrote this song but didn’t release his version for whatever reason until his 2015 “blues” album Terraplane, but I like Ambel’s version better. I think he’s playing with Earle’s band on this track, the Dukes, of which he was a part around that time.
