Steve Earle - Christmas in Washington (1997)
Things do seem pretty hopeless these days. Steve Earle might remind you that things have been demoralizing many other times. Great song.

Steve Earle - Copperhead Road (Official Music Video)
Steve Earle didn’t set out to change minds with Ghosts of West Virginia. He set out to listen. “Most people aren’t sitting around talking about politics,” he said. “They’re getting up, going to work, getting a paycheck.” The record lives right there. Underground, union-deep, and haunted by voices that still need telling.
Steve Earle on Ghosts, Coal Dust, and the Long Way Underground
Steve Earle's debut album was released on 5 March 1986.
Earle had moved to Nashville in 1974 when he was 19 and tried to break into the music scene, playing bands and writing music, with some of his songs recorded by Johnny Lee, Carl Perkins, Connie Smith, and others. He released an EP in 1982 and signed a 7-record deal with MCA Records. Guitar Town would go on to reach #1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart (and #89 on the Albums chart). It has been cited as one of the best country albums of all time (CMT) and one of the best albums of all time (Rolling Stone).
