My only question is...
HOW DID I GET ICE CREAM ON MY SHOULDER???? THAT SHOULDN’T EVEN BE POSSIBLE!
Every time we had a little lull between rivers of customers tonight, my coworkers would go sit down in the camera’s blindspot. By the 3rd time I was pretty ticked off. The store’s a mess and we’re running low on everything, including ice cream and cups, but suuuuuure, go ahead and check your phone for 10 minutes while I get everything done as fast as I can. While I’ve already been here for 4 extra hours covering for an emergency another worker had. Another not-so-stellar example from our shift lead, and man sometimes I wish these high schoolers would try a little harder. I get it’s just an ice cream shop, just a job for side money or whatever, but please, please, please, take it seriously. If you’re gonna work, work. Sometimes I too take samples and check my phone. But not on the second busiest night of the week. Not when there’s something to be doing.
A couple of high school freshman came into the ice cream shop tonight, and my friend made them their double waffle cones (it took like ten years bc they kept goofing off and wouldn’t choose their flavors). I rang them up at the register. The first kid didn’t have enough money. He waited until his friend paid and borrowed a dollar from him. Then they were dropping their spare change into the little tip jar. They kept dropping their 55 cents back in there, one coin at a time. Then they pulled out an extra dollar (ish) and handed it to me, telling me to keep it, not give it to the other (3) girls I was working with. Then (giggling) they told me to take the other change they’d dropped in there and to keep it personally. I smiled and said, “Sure, thanks” and rolled my eyes after they left, dropping the money into the community tip jar. No way was I keeping that for myself. Especially since my coworker did the hard work for them. Ridiculous freshmen.
