somehow the shows i've watched since the year started have been so underwhelming. i watched 'the breakthrough' on netflix which is based on a true story about a double homicide in sweden. it was... pretty bland for a tv show. i mean, i really don't want to sound disrespectful but i just think it would've made for a great documentary instead of a show. then i watched 'a man on the inside' since it was marketed as a comedy. oh boy it just made me sad in certain places. it wasn't incredibly funny but i would probably rate it 3.5 stars maybe? idk.
anyway what are some really nice shows you guys have seen lately? it can be anything that you considered entertaining or funny. i just want to watch something and have a good time y'know. i want to be able to talk to my friends about it excitedly. anything that fits the bill. let me know!
just saw a guy on Goodreads complain that there's no women and no "human interest" in The Breakthrough by Daphne du Maurier. but I feel like that's kind of the point. in a story that critiques the concept of man's rule over nature and the transgressing of morality for the sake of scientific advancement, it makes complete sense for the primary characters to be men.
get some reading comprehension, I beg. think a little deeper. there's a reason there's no women in Lord of The Flies, there's a reason there's no women in The Thing. I'm not saying any of these are masterpieces of feminist fiction, The Breakthrough included, but maybe the lack of female characters isn't a failure to include representation but an intentional choice. a critique of the patriarchy. human interest, if you're someone who's affected by it.
anyway it's a great little short story. everyone should read it - especially if you like Frankenstein
You need to be very very good darling. Can you be a good boy? Let's see if that's true.
If you're a bad boy I'll need to stop. Do you understand?
Alright. Okay. Okay okay okay okay olU okay omay.
Olay.
infujckes thatbuo. That up. ShiT. Spelling hard okay
yeah thatbshit that's been dripping outta me?
It's alive. It thinks. It's like... Feasting on my thoughts or something which is why I'm kinda unstable right now. It's only a disease based on my thoughts about it and such. This is some kind of emotion-bases magic construct that is also directly harmed by light and damaged by the sun. It's... It's like a fucking vampire but a slime and inside me and I don't know how to purge it beyond something SO FUCKING STUPID.
But you cant... leave it. It'll infest anything that's why the isolation is important. Nothing to infect and infest but me. Eileen has been banished and unbound for the time. She'll be back but for now her form would be a vector. At least demons are imunea to such shit. But but it u thur ht but. I have an edge.
I am a powerful mage, with great will over the art of the construct- a Golemancer as they would call it. It smells of dirt and wet basements but I'm not letting it do this any more.
It wants to be a cave, a screaming of my children, but it didn't think through one fact:
I am a mage.
I got a question for ya
See I already know the answer
But still I wanna ask you
Would you lie? (no)
Make me cry? (no)
Do somethin’ behind my back and then try to cover it up?
Well, neither would I, baby
My love is only your love (yes)
I’ll be faithful (yes)
I’m for real (yes)
And with us you’ll always know the deal
We’ve been...
Too strong for too long (and I can’t be without you baby)
And I’ll be waiting up until you get home (cuz I can’t sleep without you baby)
Anybody who’s ever loved, ya know just what I feel
Too hard to fake it, nothing can replace it
Call the radio if you just can’t be without your baby
