I have never experienced a character in any media who has made me feel more seen than the Biologist in the Southern Reach Trilogy.

It was like someone took a piece of my soul and placed it into a book. I literally was at work, nearly in tears listening to the audiobook, when she returned as the eldrich sea beast in the 3rd book. Because I was so HAPPY for her that she became that beautiful monstrosity, that she got to become the tide pools that she loved so much and the very essence of nature.

But like, I'm also so jealous because I WOULD ALSO like to forsake my humanity and become an eldrich creature composed of the ecosystem and animals that I work with and love so dearly. But like, how do you explain that to someone without sounding absolutely CRAZY???
