Something I love doing when writing is making butterfly effect charts for major events.
Like, a character is at a point where they make a serious choice. Sometimes the right choice, sometimes the wrong one. But every now and then, the seemingly wrong choice was the one that had a better outcome, because if I map it through the events that would follow, the character making a smarter decision in the moment would have led to a disaster worse than what actually happened. It really makes you start to think when you are enjoying media and you have those moments where you are like, "ugh! If they would have just done THIS instead, everything would be better. What an idiot..." but sometimes that isn't true at all!
It's a fun little exercise, and it makes me better at linking together events across a huge timespan.
I love writing pairings that are toxic. Not in the sense of being bad for each other. More in the sense that they are deeply, sincerely good to each other... just not necessarily good for the world around them. 🤣
I GOT A FUCKING RAISE THE POTATO WORKED WTF
This potato works. Every. Fucking. Time.
Reblogging because it’s a damn potato and I want to encourage people to assume potatoes are magical.

I feel like it's pretty important that I make this statement with how prevalent AI has become online:
I don't use AI.
Not for my no-sleep stories.
Not for my fanfiction.
And certainly not for my upcoming novel.
When I used to write no-sleeps, there were a few times that my most popular stories got stolen (not by ai, this was before that was a big thing) and it always hurt my feelings when I came across my work being used with zero credit.
And it also kind of makes me sad to know that tons of no-sleeps and fanfictions I've written for like 10+ years has probably gotten scraped by AI by now...
So I firmly avoid AI, because I never want to unknowingly use someone else's stolen work and be doing the exact same thing that was done to me.
I'm not posting this to shame anyone else if they use AI. It's definitely not my place to play morality police about whatever anyone else chooses to do. And I fully acknowledge that I many not understand the nuance of how the program uses scraped text since I've never tried it out myself.
But I am saying that this is how I personally feel about it for use in my creative space, so that you know my stance on it as an author.
One of my beta readers said: "I know you told me to be ready for angst and eldritch horror, but it felt so much like queer fantasy romance at the beginning that I was fully unprepaired for what was coming. And now the walls are alive and everything has gotten so crazy. I feel so bad for Jinn that I'm literally crying but I can't put the book down. I'm obsessed."

Novel sneak peek!
When designing and writing the eldrich horror entities and imagery in the novel, I took a different approach to what might be expected.
In my normal life, I am a marine disease biologist. For me, octopus don't fit the vibe. Their appearance maybe fits, but their personalities are not eldritch at all, they are just sweet and friendly, so it feels too flat for me to use them as inspiration even though that is a pretty well loved trope. And yeah, moray eels look spooky and all, but they literally just have the personality of a bratty house cat.
But the creatures that DO inspire simultaneous awe and amazement and a weird unsettling feeling at the same time are these guys:
1. Basket sea stars - OH MY GOD guys look at all those little creepy tendril arms! The way the cartilage of their body looks so bony but simultaneously also being twisty tendrils!
2. Sunflower sea stars - look at all those tube feet! They swallow prey whole, and secrete a toxin that can rupture red blood cells when threatened. Omg everything about them including their personality and behavior is a beautiful eldritch dream.
So yeah! This is just a small creature-feature to highlight the themes for one of the eldrich entities in the story, and also maybe get people interested in some cool animals you might have never seen otherwise :)
Ouroboros is coming out in 2026 :) so stay tuned if you are interested in queer fantasy/eldrich horror with heavy strange biology inspired worldbuilding, creature designs, and magic systems! 😊
"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."
Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.
Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.
REBLOG IF YOU'RE A HUMAN AND YOU USE EM DASH
I bet all the Cohort officials are sick to death of the Tower Princes. Imagine being forced to work for a shitty 20 year old nepo baby with a perpetually bad attitude because she can't get over her ex and her horrible toxic frenemy/rebound who has the personality of a snake trapped in a pillowcase. And you can't say shit about it because they are literally god's kid and a saint respectively.
Meanwhile god is busy crashing out and banging his way through your coworkers.
My best friend drew fanart of my bois making out 😚 hehehehe
Let characters be evil
Let women do CRIMES
Let nonhuman characters be morally grey
Let monsters be MONSTERS
Have you ever wanted a queer, high fantasy fae novel series with a spicy scene 🌶 where a carnivorous plant monster dom's someone, edges them, and talks them through it?
Well you are in luck, because book #1 of the "Bound in Blood and Bloom" series is coming out soon 👀 so follow me for updates because I am going to be doing some cool giveaways!
I know you guys are gonna hate me a lil bit for making the bois such a slow burn mess. But these bitches are both deeply fucked up. They got a lot of shit to work through before I let them be a happy couple. 😭
They are low key toxic af but I'm a sucker for toxic yaoi so...... 👀
