The Chap seems to mostly be satirical, with all articles except Miss Martindale’s being knowingly parodic. I do wonder if Miss Martindale knew what the tone was before agreeing to do this column.

Also worth noting it’s incredibly racist, I don’t recommend anyone seek it out.

While this might not be my normal fare, I was immediately drawn in by the melodies on “We Are Nobody” by The Chap (UK).  These are beautiful songs, and very catchy.  Now, I love guitar, and most of these songs don’t have a lot of that up front.  And, this might be one of the worst album covers I’ve seen in a while.

But that aside, this is great.  In ways it reminds me of MGMT (the songwriting and the vocals on “Rhythm King”).  At other times it recalls Sweden’s The Embassy and Ikons (just the overall vibe and reverb drenched vocals).

“We Are Nobody” is released on London label Lo Recordings in 2012.
