"Whatever! But, no I don't know anything. I thought I recognized him from that Russian expedition the Commander did one time, but I didn't really pay all that much attention to whatever all that was. I wasn't assigned to anything with it so I just didn't care, ya know?"

"Dennis doesn't just pick fights for himself, ya know." Raf argued, pushing his glasses back up to the bridge of his nose while Jack and Miko looked at each other, then him skeptically.

"Really?" Miko unsurprisingly broke the silence that had briefly grown between them and placed her hands on her hips. "I don't remember that. Name one time he and Vince didn't go at it because of something Vince said to him."

"When Vince was picking on me." Raf's voice was small but firm, and as the expressions on his friends' faces shifted from doubtful to surprised he continued, "It was after school and you guys had left to go check out that music store downtown, so Dennis and I walked home together. Vince caught up with us over by the 7-11 and started saying crap that made Dennis really mad, and they were gonna fight but I told him not to. So then we tried to leave, but then Vince started saying some stuff about me and Dennis just lost it on him."

Miko pursed her lips and made a soft huh sound.

"That doesn't really count," Jack argued gently, "He was already going to lash out at Vince, so him saying stuff about you was just an excuse."

"But he didn't." Raf pressed a little more firmly. "We were walking away and then Vince started going after me. That counts!"
