Pinson moved over to give this Drone space to sit with them. He sipped his oil, nervous.

Pinson had left quietly, making his way across the cold desert to be collected for the Games. He had kissed Espoir goodbye, leaving her sleeping.

He sat on some ruins, thinking of how he'd become outcast in his unit, and her...

Espoir was an unlikely addition to the Conclave. She worked the springs with him. They bonded over the strife of Neo Arcadia, and the Fledgeling Espoir saved. Pinson had failed, but Espoir?

The other Drones saw her as worthy. She would be happier with them, without him holding her back.

Espoir woke with a start, finding herself lying in a bed. Padded restraints held her, and she pulled. Her eyes widened in fear.

Was she back in that horrible place? "No... No! No I don't want to be salvaged!" she cried out.
