Message from the Contributors
The contributors want to say something on their own that they put together about everything that’s happened and asked me to post it here. Please take the time to read it. Another post will follow soon and have more lengthy update.
From the contributor’s of the McHanzo Zine ‘Bullseye’:
Hello everyone. Given recent developments to our ongoing efforts to obtain answers behind what happened, we thought it best to express our feelings on the current state of affairs.
For those who are not aware, we have decided to take Lynn to small claims court regarding fraud and fund misuse. This is not a path we wished to pursue, and it should be noted that we are doing this as a last resort. Over the course of the last three weeks we have been in communication with Lynn regarding receipts to clarify this matter. The receipts requested were billing statements to the account so we could do a full audit of funds used. We told her that we could use these receipts to verify Lynn’s story that funds were mistakenly taken out and she had returned them to their proper location upon realizing her mistake.
We were denied time and time again. Lynn stated she didn’t see how all of this was important despite our multiple explanations. We also asked how much money was in the account to begin with, so we could audit at least some of the funds with receipts Lynn gave, but we were denied that as well.
Last week we told her if we were not given the billing statements, we would push forward with the small claims suit. It was emphasized that providing said billing statements or anything we could use to audit the account would mean we would not move forward with the lawsuit until said audit was done and all potential missing funds were returned to their proper location. We were once again denied and sadly have been forced to move forward with our current plan of action.
We made it clear that once proven that the funds were returned or weren't missing, we would share this news with the fandom. We wanted this to be resolved as quickly as possible, for all parties involved, including Lynn. Open communication was key to finding an end point for us all, so we can heal as a community.
As contributors, we would like to make it clear that we do not wish for Lynn to be harassed in any way and strongly disapprove of any actions of harassment or doxxing. We are also sorry to hear how this affair is affecting Lynn’s health and wish her the best despite our disagreement. That being said, we would like to emphasize that mental illness is not an excuse to not be held accountable. As people with depression and other conditions ourselves, we believe we have provided Lynn with more than enough accommodations to resolve this incident.
As contributors, who at the moment, have no proof their work wasn’t taken for another’s personal profit, our mental health in this matter is also worth considering, as is the condition of the many people who bought a zine and are concerned about its development. We cannot simply provide a blank check of time for our request to be met when there is more than a thousand dollars in question. Especially when that money was meant for charity.
We are sorry this has all transpired. We will keep you updated as we move forward.
