The Dismasters | Act Like You Know | 1989
The Dismasters were an old school New York rap group consisting of Raven T & Lord Mike Ski. They were also, along with Stetsasonic, one of the first rap groups to touch onto Africanism. They had some considerable hits like the timeless ‘Small Time Hustler’, but for some reason this album was only released in the UK, which didn’t help them much as they quickly fell into obscurity. The track ”Act Like You Know” is a diss to DJ Red Alert for not wanting to play their record on his show.
