I love how Xiahou Dan was killing people from day 1 and it took this long for people to clue in that he's not a green flag

(honestly I don't think he's really any flag because that discourse is dumb anyway, he's what you get when you pluck a kid out of middle school and throw him in a murder palace with unremitting migraines and an evil stepmother. It's honestly shocking he's alive and even slightly sane)

I cannot get over these three quotes and especially how much the last two speak to the discourse today. And not only about religious people, but about anyone who has a strong feeling that they are better than everyone else in whatever way

August von Kotzebue was a proshipper, Friedrich Wilhelm Ziegler was fanpol and ‘Menschenhaß und Reue’ was the biggest fandom discourse of the 18th century.

Seems like “redemption arcs are immoral and young women should not read them because it’ll corrupt their innoncent minds” is not the fresh take some people want it to be.

So I reblogged a post about how everyone is to some extent racist/sexist/transphobic etc from growing up in a society which is these things and also a post about not tarring a whole demographic with the same brush, and the perceived hypocrisy is bothering me, so:

I can, for example, think that saying “all men are sexists” is both factually incorrect and somewhat offensive and at the same time agree that men, and to be honest, many women, who have grown up in mainstream society are, on the whole, going to have some underlying prejudice against women.

It’s possible to construct a hypothetical man who has no prejudice against women, but in real life they are going to be rare just because of how misogyny is embedded into society. Still, most men aren’t active sexists because that requires to act on those prejudices. It’s nearly impossible to completely eliminate a thought but you don’t have to accept it either.

*I’m using misogyny as an example here - this  could be expanded to any form of prejudice

Me, a person who is a member of the lgbtqa+: *literally can not go into ANY of my indentifying tags because they are clogged with discourse from people who insist that my identities either don’t exist, don’t belong, shouldn’t be used.* It’s so damn frustrating.

Star Trek Discovery is a beautiful show with a so far compelling storyline and a very likable star. I like Michael Burnham. So what.

Orville doesn’t interest me in the slightest. And the more I read that it’s supposedly the “Better star trek show” the less I want to see it. Especially since I am pretty sure, Martial courts DID happen before on star trek.

I’ve seen a few posts about how fanfic writers (or writers in general, I guess) should just write for the love of it, rather than for any expectation of praise or comments or kudos, and: sure

except

(a) if you write only for yourself I kind of wonder whether you’re posting it online anywhere, and if you are, why? and

(b) if you read something I’ve written and you don’t comment or hit the like button or anything: okay, we cool and all, but you are saying ‘I don’t care if you ever post anything again.’

Not liking something someone has written is fine - the best art in the world isn’t going to appeal to everyone - but if you do like it, and you don’t at least hit the ‘like’ button? Don’t be surprised if you never see anything from that person again.
