The house felt dark. Darker than it should be for this time of the evening, but the general gloom seemed to permeate from the very walls. Sluggishness took hold and a strong sense of apathy flooded the floors. Natural light seemed dim and artificial lights, candles, chandeliers and the such were not lightening the rooms like it should. Servants and staff once eager and ready to serve and assist could not shake the lethargy which took hold. Even Hilaremont who was still staying with felt the cold grip of something which wouldn't let him go.
The sound of a glass falling from the kitchen was remarkable for two reasons. One, the sound of glass shards tumbling across the ground seemed to thwart off the gloom of the house. Two...
