Overwhelming existence of The Entropy.
Some fanart for my friend, @neoncityrain, of nya's Entropy Rain World Mod! :D Nya recently made a new area, and it was so so cool that it got my creative juices flowing for not just one, but TWO pieces!!
Go play the mod *stabs you* /hj
The Entropy - Shattered Brotherhood
Warband: The Perfect Entropy
Legion: [UNKNOWN]
Status: Traitoris (?)
Hierarchy: [UNKNOWN]
Heraldry: A shattered silver chalice with a splintered ouroboros on it.
Known Members:
Adrian Malek - Self-proclaimed Chapter Master. Braggart Hal - Praetor Nia - Shadowmaster Helotes - Apothecary Sarn Nox - Techeun Argyros - Harrowmaster
They call themselves the Perfect Entropy and in doing so have long marked their souls with the heretical and the ruinous warbands that also swim the depths of the Cicatrix Maledictum.
Their story spans centuries to a time of great calamity, when Chapters were Legions united under far fewer banners and falling upon one another in a war that engulfed the entire galaxy.
They escaped that fresh hell scarred and broken and destitute without the safety of their Legion to shelter them from being hunted. They could not even count to return to their homeworld as it was long excised for even being considered ally to the traitor's banner.
So they wandered and built themselves enough of a power to venture out away from the great rift in hopes that someone or something could grant them purpose. A place to be and possibly the chance for redemption.
Time for a complete nonsense theory, because I’ve been letting my red string gather dust.
Theory: The Web has an equal opposite Fear the way the Buried opposes the Vast, and it is not the Desolation. Yes, there’s the grudge match to consider, but acts of Desolation are not immune to planning. Jude’s whole deal in her origin was acting on a decision to sadistically destroy the lives around her. Plus, come on. It’s fire. It’s literally just fire and loss.
The Web probably had said fires woven into its plan aLl AlOnG. You know what the actual antithesis to the Web would be? The absolutely plan-proof. A gigantic swatch from Mother Nature. No, not the Corruption. Not even The End. Nope.
Entropy.
Chaos, discord, bedlam, anarchy, disorder, acts-of-god, animal-error, pick a name. Whatever you call it, it’s the truly inescapable Fear compared to the itsy-bitsy micromanaging Spider. If Desolation is Fear of all our security going up in flames, Entropy is the Fear that belongs to those who are scrambling to keep everything in order. Who, by all rights, should have a perfect handle on every single solitary detail of their lives (and others’)…
…and then some mindless accident comes along and fucks it all up, throwing them into a state of frenzied damage control panic.
No masterminding, no scheming, no counter-counterplot, just plain old shit luck whacking you out of nowhere.
What would piss the Mother of Puppets off more than getting her strings on a victim, all ready to Pull a Plan Together, only to have said victim completely, obliviously screw up their task? Gets in a car crash, drops an important prop in the gutter, falls down a manhole, gets flattened by an anvil, whatever.
Worse, what if, true to not-actually-omniscient form, all the Web’s statistics and probabilities and predictions and most-likely-scenarios crap out because the puppet juuust slips through that 0.01% chance of Not Doing the Expected Thing after dancing to all the steps required beforehand? Whoops, you just wasted all your time and planning for nothing. Wah-wah.
All that said, what shape could the Entropy take to accurately counter the Web?
Well, it’d have to be a form that does whatever the hell it feels like regardless of what other, supposedly more powerful entities want it to do. Bonus points if it seems to take active joy from attacking creepy crawlies, playing with/ruining strings, and causing havoc wherever it decides to plop its ass down.
…
I’m saying Hunt!Admiral is out and Entropy!Admiral is in and I want this specifically to happen when he, Georgie, and Melanie cross paths with any part of the Spider
