FFXV: Royal Edition — interesting details of the fight vs The Mystic + a new theory
I noticed this at, like, the 2nd or 3rd watch, but for one reason or another I haven’t posted it until now.
I realized that the footage they showed of the fight with the Ruler of Yore called “The Mystic” (Iaksa in Spanish —in Spanish the Royal Arms are called by names and then the title is said in the description—, Yasha/Yaksha in Japanese according to the Wikia) has a... quite interesting background.
The first moments shown, he appears on the hall of the paintings, before you reach the throne room; he seems to be facing that room itself. That is kind of interesting, given the fact that you fight “The Fierce” in the lowest part of the Citadel: since we don’t see any footage vs the queen called “The Rogue”, and it’s said we’re getting an expanded map of Insomnia, either we’re going to have “another stop” between the lowest part and the Throne Room., or we fight her in that same lowest floor.
Given the fact that the 3 Kings of Yore shown appear as watchers when the fight with Ardyn its reaching its end, it wouldn’t be crazy if we would have to fight the other two as well. I would love to fight them all, though.
However, what caught my interest the most, and a lot... was that there’s more footage of the fight with “The Mystic” but, this time, for the footage of the fight, you’re in another place...
That “etheral” and swirling background around then just looks like the vortex seen in the cinematic after Noctis dies, before he confronts Ardyn for the last time; like that vortex that surrounds Noctis as he warps to its center before finding Ardyn. The thing is... you’re with the other bros, for what it seems.
Oh, and if you look at the minimap at that part of the footage you can see that the map looks very similar to the one of the throne room, althought you look like being “out of the map”. It could just be another floor or something, or the same floor as the throne room maybe... but then, why not “show/put” that part of the minimap and have the minimap like that? That’s a bit weird.
Another thing that I’ve noticed just now, after watching again the trailer, is that I can’t, for the life of me, recognize the sword that Noctis calls upon in the scene before fighting “The Mystic”. At first I thought he was summoning Regis’ sword, or the one of the same king he’s fighting, but for what I’ve seen, it doesn’t look to me that the form corresponds with either of them.
Is it me or Noctis looks like... kind of “angry” in that scene in which he calls upon that sword to fight “The Mystic”? I mean, I don’t know you, but he gives me these vibes, more than simple concentration.
But well, imagine this... Noctis and the group get called by Cor saying that, before heading to Altissia, they could use the Royal Vessel to go take a look at what looks like a tomb that’s only accesible using a ship (or better accessed to by using a ship). Imagine that that is... not exactly a tomb, or an almost destroyed tomb, with a 14th royal arm: Ardyn’s weapon. Imagine that that is the sword that Noctis summons in that little scene before fighting “The Mystic”...
Man, I would LOVE this so much. Chances of this happening I would say are non-existant, but I would love to see something like this nonetheless.
Oh, and bonus points if the place to where you have to go pick up the sword is Angelgard’s stone prison, instead of a tomb.
P.D.: RIP MY HEART, I forgot silence my phone and the freaking sound that I have for notifications, of the chirp of a chocobo, rang LOUD. JEEZ.
