The Fortunate Fool by Norman Walker. 1933
Day 05 - A book that makes you happy
so many books make me happy, so this is a tough choice.
mercedes lackey "the fortunate fool"
this if from a series of books that they stories are based around fairy tales the world over. my love for fairy tales, in the last several years, has led me to read so many different books that are retellings of tales. the thing with mercededs lackey's take on the tales, is that she takes the character types and situations and the magic from the tales and weaves them together to create a great read.
"the fortunate fool" deals with russian and japanese fairy tales. i won't really go into detail, because it would ruin the book for anyone who would want to read it. I just really love the more obscure fairy tales, anything not disney-fied can be classified as obscure for most people.
if you are a fairy tale buff, i would highly suggest the 500 kingdoms novels to you, there are 5 or 6 of them out now and they are all entertaining reads.
