PRINCE OF THE END : THE SWEET BITTERNESS : RIVALEN TANTHUL
After finishing the Avatar Series I moved onto Godborn in the Sundering series, and boy, what a tone shift... Loved how much dread they evoke around Sembia and those who worship absence...

Hello may i ask you if you could possibly provide a list of books and or/links that i could read about the nine hells? 😠i'm so intrigued but so lost idk where to start and where to go lol. Love your blog btw!
Hi! Thank you so much thsts so sweet!🥰
Hmmm! It depends on what you’re looking for! And I will tell you the Hells has been retconned to (heh) Hell and back so feel to take what lore you like and ignore other bits, DnD is supposed to be fun. The Nine Hells is my current hyper fixation though so I stay reading about it lol. I get a lot of my stuff from everywhere but I can definitely provide some links!:
So books!
Descent into Avernus: This is a great world building book if you’re looking to learn more about Avernus or Zariel, I have this book so I can vouch that it’s great. Even not just for world building, the campaign itself is super cool and gives you the option to be EVIL which is so lacking in a lot of RPGs these days.
Chains of Asmodeus: is a great reference for like the entirety of the Hells I haven’t dug through it completely but it’s good. Don’t agree with everything but! Take and leave right lol…Here’s a little link to it free online and a bunch of other DnD assets for freeeee :3
The Godborn: I’m holding off on ordering this to have in my own collection bc the Twilight Wars comes first but my friend let me go through theres and for characterization of Mephistopheles this book it’s great. This is a novel different than the two books above which are more DnD adventures just so you know.
Twilight War Series: These I haven’t read but follows Magadon Kest who is Raphael’s brother, I ordered Shadowbred since I’m about to finish Homeland and I’ll let you guys know if it’s any good! But I’m very excited about starting this series. These are novels.
Brimstone Angels: I have mixed feelings about these but I have used sections of it for reference, good stuff for kinda of conceptualizing cambion behavior. It’s a bit…idk. It’s not always to my tastes but it is a good book to paw through if you’re looking for cambion stuff specifically. These are novels.
Websites:
Idk if linking these will work but these are scans from a dungeon master issue a friend sent me about Archdevil Glasya’s killing of her mother, service to Mammon and rise to power….lots of great details about Asmodeus, Bensozia and Glasya’s family dynamic too.
Cania – Planescape: I am the Mimir
Hells layers details! Great stuff and great art, of course I’ve set it to Cania bc duh but there’s a lot of stuff there.
Forgotten Realms Wiki
It’s lacking its barebones but it’ll give you your base lore on characters, can’t knock it bc we need it. And it does have a lot of stuff.
This article was first broadcast in Episode One Hundred Fifty One on 3 February 2021. ROSTRO: Please state the nature of the mathematical in
For Meph specifically ^ DMs talking shop about Meph’s characterization, it’s funny and I agree with a lot of their interpretations. This is a sillier one though.
Baalphegor - Greyhawk Wiki
Some Baalphegor lore bc I’m miss Baalphegor’s number one fan!!!!! Not enough about her…my missing babyGIRL!!!!
Video Games:
Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark: Some of the stuff in this is as crazy to me as Raphy ruling over all the Hells but I do like Mephistopheles’s characterization in this sooooo!!!! I watched a playthrough and if you want Meph mannerisms for writing and stuff I think this game is clutch. His voice in it is…hot. ðŸ¤
I hope some of these point you in lore directions you like and gives you some interesting threads to follow! The Hells are vast and I’m still learning a lot. I love it though. Yay Hells :D

Tfw you're not friends with anyone as neck deep in D&D lore as you are and you've made some funny quips about a god but also want to a little bit thirsty about said god.
[[ Above is one of the official paintings released by WotC with the publication of The Sundering novels. The labels for the characters had their accuracy verified by official sources. While some of these characters are first-time appearances, the others are established and/or significant figures within the Forgotten Realms.
Drizzt, Guenhwyvar and Catti-brie don’t require much explanation. The Companions, as the first book in The Sundering series, is the only novel in the Drizzt franchise that isn’t part of a trilogy.Â
Vasen Cale, Erevis Cale and Drasek Riven appear in The Godborn. Vasen is a new character in the Erevis Cale storyline, which began with the Sembia series. Erevis Cale gained momentum and went on to feature in The Erevis Cale trilogy and The Twilight War trilogy.
Farideh and Dahl Peredur appear in The Adversary, as well as other books in the Brimstone Angels series.
Anton Marivaldi, Stedd Whitehorn and Umara Ankhlab appear in The Reaver. There are no other books that contain these three characters, with the exception of a brief cameo by Stedd in The Adversary.
Kleef Kenric, Arietta Seasilver and Malik appear in The Sentinel. Like the characters of The Reaver, these three characters from The Sentinel do not have any other books that contain them.
Storm Silverhand and Elminster appear in The Herald, but both have extensive legacies spanning many novels, sourcebooks and digital media.
These books can be read standalone, however some things do make more sense, or are more interesting, in the context of preceding novels. I personally found this to be especially true with the The Godborn, although my overall favorite of the series is The Reaver. In addition to being a solid addition to the collection, The Reaver is one of the better novels of all the 300+ Forgotten Realms books. It is very well self-contained while maintaining consistency with the shared world, which allows it to flow well for both those who are familiar with the Realms as well as those who are not. ]]
Magadon Kest being vomited up by Papa Mephistopheles:
Is there a official art of Magadon? Like the one with Mephistopheles, I mean.
No, and sadly Magadon comes from before cambions really had more standardized appearances so even his written description is a little…., I was talking to one of my artist friends about drawing him, perhaps a bit updated more to what we’d expect them to look like now. He’s def the most saddest little baby boy princess…we love Magadon in this house.
Jeffery Reviews #38
Title: "The Godborn"
Author: Paul S. Kemp
Summary: Book 2 of The Sundering, 100 years have passed since Erevis Cale had his shard of divinity ripped out of his body. Drasek Riven is the god of shadows and grows concerned about losing the last of his humanity. The Netherese Empire continues its scheme to round up Chosen even as Mask's plan from before the Spellplague comes together. Either he will be resurrected or Shar's Cycle Of Night will complete and render Toril lifeless.
Pros:
The Erevis Cale books were fantastic and this book feels like them
Mask is the best god
kept me thinking about the book even when I was unable to read
Cons:
I'll have to wait a long while for another Cale book
it hurt my feelings
Length: 327 pages
Quote: "'Gods, indeed,' Riven said. 'Makes a man a monster, Mags. No way to avoid it.'"
All hail the new Lord of Shadows
A worshipper prays to the D&D god Mask, once dead but now reincarnated.
"Lord of Shadows, hear my words."
"Fine, but first get off your damned knees."
