Hellooo, the 2nd half of Harmony Codex is so cool ??
I didn't really have high expectations for this album cause I wasn't amazed by the singles - they were okay but they kinda sounded like some random songs put together; different style, different mood; not like something forming a consistent album. BUT I was blown away by the send half!! I LOVE everything starting from Beautiful Scarecrow. Beautiful Scarecrow kinda sounds like something from Insurgents or Grace For Drowning; The Harmony Codex track is like a Perfect Live v2 to me which is soooo cool. I also got some Deadwing vibes from Actual Brutal Facts. And I totally lost my shit when I heard repeated lyrics from Harmony Codex in Staircase. I love when I can hear other songs and bits from the rest of the album in a song. And tbh that 2nd part works so well together, I love its mood and it feels like a whole.
Yeah that's it from me. I'm curious what others think!!
Steven Wilson - The Harmony Codex (long take)
ROCK BOTTOM
- I really really like this one
- it’s the better improved sequel to pariah
- from what i understand ninet wrote this one? I don’t know to what extent steven had with the creation but she did a fantastic job
- if anything it should be credited as ninet tayeb and steven wilson
- I’ve seen comments saying this sounds like something that would come off ultraviolence and i haven’t listened to enough lana del ray to confirm or deny
- the video is also way better than pariahs
- the harmonising on the “break apart” section is just hnnnhgnbghggg that’s the good shit
the last time i really liked a solo steven wilson track was song of i from to the bone, so to get something that’s not on the better side of mid im very happy
Steven and his dog <3
Steven talking about harmonies;
Steven Wilson is the testament that it's still possible to make music with modern production techniques that sounds interesting and new and prog, and I hate how he he was discouraged by the boring ass un-proggy "prog" fandom to go back to more 70s vibed "prog" rock.
I liked the new album, but it was such an obvious response to this debacle (I mean it consists of two 18-21 minutes song and was clearly inspired by Yes and Pink Floyd!) and I don't like it when artists compromise their vision because of fan or journalist response...
