Been working on some designs based on songs in my free time the last two weeks

(( For @mercermachines‘s August Mercer! Since this was a form request, it gets to be posted before the others~ now I wasn’t too sure what you were looking for in a “boozy” feel for a song - the first things that come to mind are gaelic jigs, and that’s honestly not the feel I get from Mercer as a character. I think you hit a good spot with The Decemberists, and bands like The Helio Sequence and Rogue Wave first came to mind. I will say another song struck with me, but it was a little too generalized to use for a music request - though I’ll link it anyways. It’s Lily Wood and the Prick’s Prayer in C - I usually prefer the Robin Schulz mix cause it’s a bit faster paced - but it also didn’t feel what I was looking for. REGARDLESS - I had such a great time reading the stories and posts you had (and that very detailed LFRP post!), it gave me a bit more insight as to what I was looking for. I settled on this song because, while originally meant as the singer to a lover, the lyrics felt like something Mercer might say to his faith in Halone. It starts soft, slowly boiling up to something louder by the end. I hope you enjoy the song(s)! Thank you so much for filling out a form for me! ))
Although I woke up with a Harry Hangover I also woke up with sudden clarity on what bands from the 2010s 'Golden' specifically reminded me of: it was a precise mix of Midlake, Band Of Horses and 'Keep Your Eyes Ahead' by The Helio Sequence.
It was driving me mad last night, on the tip of my tongue, so although it won't matter a fuck to anyone else, I can finally rest easy. I knew it would be harder to pinpoint the more I listened to 'Golden'.
