*EDIT not sure why this was given a “possible mature content” label but sure I guess 😂
More exciting and unexpected news- our favorite guy is heading back to the stage! The Intouchables will open in July in Mexico City, so since Sugar premieres on June 19 and runs through the first week of August we should be able to have a pretty full summer! I’m beyond ecstatic as we have been in a bit of a drought for a while and I was getting desperate for casting news. More to come!

After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caregiver.
I finally watched this film; I meant to do so for a while. I don't remember how I first heard of it, but it must have been when I was looking for criticism of Me Before You, someone probably mentioned it in the comments somewhere. Or maybe it was Goodreads? Idk, not important. Anyway. Not only does it do everything better than Me Before You--it's an offence to Intouchables to even mention it in the same sentence as Me Before You--it's also funny! It has genuinely laugh out loud moments. No forced tearjerking (unless it's tears of joy) and no romance (well a little, but it's a side plot). Driss, the carer, is just as unqualified for the job as Louisa is, but the difference is that he doesn't even want to the job, he only turned up at the interview to obtain a proof that he is actively looking for work so that he could claim benefits. He's freshly out of jail and from a poor immigrant family, and lives in a poor neighbourhood. Philippe, the quadriplegic, hires him anyway bc he wants someone different (he explains to his lawyer, who warns him that the guy has a criminal record, that he likes that Driss has no pity for him). They develop a genuine friendship. It's also based on a true story, the difference is only that irl the man who was the carer is Algerian, but in the film he is Senegalese, bc they cast Omar Sy.
I cannot recommend this film more. Seriously, check it out, guys. I'll let you find the things Me Before You copied from it by yourselves.
