We’re in the present everyone!!! MJ is 18 and starting college now. We’ll see her open up again and make new friends! We’ll also see her take on new enemies, some more serious than just a villain of the week. Feel free to make some guesses about who else we’ll see in this story. (I’ve already shown some faces in this comic :3)

This comic takes place maybe only 2 months after the Rockefeller Incident. Her family knows her well, but Vic knows her the best. He finds some blueprints MJ had been working on, and he knows it’s not a random coincidence that she’s working on spider gear. It makes even more sense why the incident seems to weigh down his sister with such intensity, as if she holds herself responsible for it. He doesn’t beat around the bush and decides to confront her about it. He knows he won’t be able to talk her out of being the Iris Spider, so he wants her to know she doesn’t have to do it all alone.

The Iris Spider largely dedicates themselves to helping out their community, so even if they get into some physical fights it’s never been a large-scale confrontation or disaster. The last half of this comic takes place about a year into MJ’s vigilante gig. She was hanging out at the skating rink with Gene at the Rockefeller Center when things suddenly took a violent turn. (There’s a reason behind this attack, but that won’t be revealed for a long time) An explosive went off causing mass panic, and MJ knew she had to gear up and help out. Gene urged MJ to do her thing, and they split up. What none of them knew, was that there was a second explosive, and that caused a few casualties plus more wounded. Gene didn’t make it, and MJ’s inability to save her is something she still holds onto. Her role as the Iris Spider started to carry more weight from that day onward.

I’ve realized that I haven’t posted anything related to my spidersona here, so I will post a bunch of the stuff I have of insta.

MJ is a college freshman who loves robotics and biochemical engineering!! She was mutated by a bite from a radioactive bold jumper when she was 15, and has been the Iris Spider for 3 years! Her best friend Gene was the first person she confided in about the mutation, and her brother discovered the truth on his own. I had the idea that in the early days of her patrols through the streets of Brooklyn, she’d use way too much webfluid to secure anyone she apprehended. The city dubbed her the mysterious iris spider, and it just stuck from there.

In general, MJ is the oldest of four kids and always strives to lead by example. She tends to get overwhelmed easily, but they’re used to working through the pressure. They have a bad habit of pushing themselves beyond their limit. She’s lucky to have family and friends that keep her grounded and remind her to take breaks. When she isn’t filling up her schedule with school and patrolling the city, she’s telling absolutely terrible jokes and watching tv with her family. She loves listening to new music and doodling random designs for potential projects. Her mind is always creating.
