TV Land is really happy with their original comedy series Teachers.
They’re so happy that they’re giving that rarely-seen-these-days full season order of 20 episodes for season 3 of the show.
This means, we guess, that there is enough room for two single camera cable sitcoms about teachers who are more than a little rough around the edges on television. Remember that, earlier this year, TruTV renewed Those Who Can’t for season 3 too.

TEACHERS
Teachers is my new favorite show. I make it my business to be in front of the TV every Wednesday at 10:30pm. I'm so glad my incessant King of Queens viewing habits allowed me to see the progression of the promos for Teachers. The first round of promos seemed pretty tame compared to the hilarious promos that aired closer to the premiere. Thanks to a free episode on PlayStation Network, I was hooked before the series even premiered. I can't praise Teachers enough. The Katydids completely won me over with this series. Their exaggerated portrayals of each character makes for an unending source of amusement.
Very briefly, these are the Teachers: Ms. Cannon is militantly un(gender)biased. Ms. Bennigan is as sexually repressed as she is religious (probably more). Ms. Feldman is the ultimate slacker. Ms. Snap is sadly vapid. Ms. Adler is angry at everyone who ever bullied her. Ms. Watson is only held together by her perfectly applied hairspray. The common element shared by every Teacher is that they are as horrible as they are hilarious.
As it stands, Deb Adler is my hero. I couldn't stop laughing at her lines and delivery during the entire anti-bullying episode. I'd already taken a liking to her in the promos, but the pilot episode solidified it. I am still laughing at the use and implications of “Monistat Bomb.” Deb’s entire interaction with the photographer in “Picture Day” had me laughing so much that (ironically) my throat hurt. If nothing else, this show has introduced the term #ballgobble to the world. In all seriousness, Deb's reaction to the photographer is absolutely, 100%, everything I've ever felt and wanted to say when in similar situations. I have never seen that particular essence of anger, so accurately displayed on camera. Thank you, Ms. Adler. Thank you, Teachers. Thank you, Katydids. I felt so vindicated and relieved to see someone get to unleash on the guy who knows it all because he "has a sister."
Truth be told, I am surprised how honest, brutal, and funny Teachers is. I have never seen such intense declarations of womanhood on any screen. I applaud the Katydids on their simultaneous attack on and embrace of all things considered woman. In a world full of desperate housewives trying to become younger by having sex in the city, I am forever thankful for Teachers.
