I’ve had this funky little idea for Bo, where he’s kidnapped reader to try and forcibly make them his partner (regular old Bo stuff). Reader is pissed the fuck off, argues, fights back, is generally very strong, stoic and feisty and Bo can’t manage to break them. Then one day they’re watching tv and a news report about readers disappearance comes up, maybe their parents are on tv asking for help finding their child. Reader is absolutely destroyed, their tough persona shattered and they start bawling hysterically, won’t stop crying for days, is absolutely inconsolable. Bo is lowkey also distraught cuz he can’t do anything to fix this and deep inside he doesn’t want them to be miserable
[OMG what a sad idea T.T cut added due to length]
~Regret~
♡ Bo was in the kitchen, nursing the bloody nose you had just given him- shouting every threat and profanity imaginable while his head hung over the sink. You were in the livingroom, wrapping up your bleeding knuckles. Was your hand swollen and hurt? Sure. Was it worth it? Absolutely. You'd had enough of Bo and his bullshittery- and if it wasn't torrential rain outside, you would have made a run for it, again. Third time this week. But with a belly full of beer and your hand needing tending to, you figured you'd stay put for now- keeping an extra cautious eye on on Bo, expecting him to come back with a vengeance.
♡ While you wrapped yourself, you turned on the tv- the channel coincidentally on the news. Images of your home town flashed by, along with a candle lit vigil- your picture on display, surrounded by flowers and small gifts. The sound of a familiar voice yanked your mind away from the sting of your possibly broken hand. Your mother's voice, shaking with sorrow, pleading at the camera, captured your complete attention. It had been so long since you heard her, even after moving across the country: the two of you had kept in touch- talking at least weekly over the phone. When you were abducted, your mind didn't even consider who would miss you- you had been in survival mode for so long
♡ Bo's approaching onslaught faded out of your consciousness while you found yourself transfixed by the TV. Your mother, lazily comforted by the stiff arm of the reporter, displayed her devastation on live television- asking for help from anyone who might know where you were. Your vision blurred, hot tears threatening to stuff your sinuses while your chest began heaving. The last words out of your mother's mouth: were that she would forgive whoever did this if they brought you back safe- because she didn't know how much time she had left on this earth
♡ Bo was still neck deep in the kitchen sink when he heard the wailing. It took him a second to register the noise as having originated from you- the entire time you had been in Ambrose, you never cried. At least not that he was aware of. He stuffed a dish rag to his face, stomping over to you: assuming you were making fun of him over his injuries- he was ready for round 2 with you. His pace slowed as he entered the living room to see you, knees on the ground, swollen hands covering your face as you wept. The tears and screams were uncontrollable and unrelenting. Months of frustration, anger, regret- everything, was on its way out. Your mother's words kept replaying in your head- haunting you. The horror. The absolute horror she must have been going thru: and because you were too weak to have fought the brother off, too stupid to make an escape plan that actually worked. Your mind was reeling with regret. Why did you ever leave home to begin with? None of this ever would have happened if......
● A soft touch. One that you had never felt before- warm, but wet, hands lingering around your shoulders to hold you steady. Bo plopped down next to you on the distressed wooden floor, lightly pulling you back against his chest. Your whimpering mouth struggled to keep pace with the speed at which your thoughts were racing: you became a babbling mess, trying to explain yourself. As if he even cared. But he did. Bo began hushing you- his hands struggling to rub warmth back into your shaking shoulders. He was a man of few words when it came to emotion, so he knew there was no way for him to offer anything in the way of support, at least not in terms of what you were currently feeling. And of course he couldn't relate, on any level.....but he felt a sadness. One that occurred more now than it ever had during any of your fights. Despite all the physical altercations, the verbal abuse, the emotional manipulation: Bo really did, at least as much as he was capable of, care about you. And now- the gravity of reality setting in: the realization of what he stole from you- something he would, and could never have: a family. You. Love. None of it. Because despite wanting to give you the world- all you'd ever seen him as- was the person who took it all away.
Awhile back, I conceptualized a fandom version of The Onion. For classic fanfic reasons, I decided to call it The Lemon. Someday i might turn it into a personal writing zine, but until that day...here are some article ideas I drafted, as I revisit them right now:
