((Eating pizza reminded me of a little cluster of headcanons I always mean to post, but forget. So before I forget again:

Weiss eats pizza with a knife and fork. They always use utensils, even when eating other fast foods, and avoid anything they can’t figure out how to eat using them. Half of that is to avoid as much mess as possible, while the other half is that hand-held foods are a Very Bad Sensory Experience.

Winter isn’t fond of pizza, or of fast foods in general. She doesn’t mind takeout from time to time (although only from Very Specific Places), but 8/10 she would rather make her own food. Nicholas taught her for a reason, after all.

Willow and Whitley haven’t had enough experience with fast food/takeout to have an opinion.

Wilhelmine has never had takeout or fast food, and especially not after she married Nicholas, since he taught her at least the basics of cooking.))

"Winter!" called Weiss as she seemed excited to embrace her sister, only to halt her steps and realized she lost composure for a moment. She then stood close to the older Schnee, adjusting herself as she clears her throat. "How are you lately?"

It wasn’t a “loss of composure” that made Winter shift imperceptibly back, it was the unexpected burst of exuberance from her younger sister that disconcerted Winter for a few moments. A deep (and equally imperceptible) breath calmed the oldest Schnee sibling enough to reach out to Weiss, a small smile making the soldier’s expression a good deal less blank and severe.

Always conscious of her claws, the Snow Leopard Faunus took her baby sister’s hands carefully, swaying their joined hands in a small stim. Within a heartbeat of taking Weiss’ hands in her own, a deep and insistent purr started in Winter’s chest, intended to calm both of them. In conjunction with the purring, her long, fluffy tail shifted around to gently caress whatever part of the younger Huntress it could reach.

Which was a fair bit, given it almost reached the floor, though Winter always wore heels (and was nearly six feet tall). Managing more than just a small smile, her blue-grey gaze settled on Weiss’ right ear. “I am well, all considered,” the Major replied, words measured, but not cold or clipped; her tone was also warmer. “And you, liebling?” Despite difficulty expressing it, she tried her hardest for Weiss.

She had helped raise her, after all.

Chuckling softly, the sound accompanied by a deep and reverberating purr, Winter settled into her place at the table. Whenever she had the time —which was to say, when James Ordered her to be Off Duty more than was strictly allowed by her position — the eldest Schnee child would spend her nights with her wife and their daughter, most usually making dinner for the three of them; tonight was no different.

The soldier had quickly learned the balance between healthy foods and what both Nera and Gale enjoyed, so tonight’s meal had been one of the first things Opa had shown/taught her to make — schnitzel, with rice and peas as side, or a mild potato salad. Providing a small stool for Gale, Winter had taught her the process in the same way she herself had been (and in the same way she, Opa, and Klein had taught Weiss), beginning with allowing the small owl to bread the tenderized veal cutlets — eggs, flour, and breadcrumbs.

While Nera and Gale had plated what they wanted of each, Winter had boxed up the leftovers and put them into the fridge. The statement had come while the blue-eyed woman was bringing over her own dinner, making pink-painted lips curl in a small smile, accompanied by a quick kiss once the younger woman was settled. “And I you, mein Schatz,” she murmured, still purring. “My life would be emptier and colder, without you and Gale in it.”

She didn’t want to think about it.
