should i have a pinned post? i should have a pinned post-
deep breath
hello internet! i'm cobalt, but i'll usually answer to whatever mix or mash of my username you wish to use. i use primarily they/them pronouns, but im fine with generally any of them, especially neopronouns, theyre fun :D. and i am a [mostly] aroace genderqueer adult in university.
i post mostly about fable smp, more so about fable smp fanfiction- some of it that unfortunately i write along with other stuff that i apparently write now.
i occasionally also post about other stuff [critical role, mcsr, superheroes, random games im playing at that time] but yeah no the fable brainrot is hard with this one, i am beginning to fear it will never leave me.
i am still learning this website and its etiquette, so uh if i fuck up im sorry. i say this despite being here for multiple years at this point-
nice to meet you all *violently shakes your hand*
-if you send me dms or asks requesting money or for me to reblog something i will delete them, i will not answer, i am a student with very limited income and am unable to discern if something is legitimate or not. please stop calling me a horrible person for doing so, i dont hate you but i will block you-
sometimes [often] i have the urge to write out the loop campaign that i ran in novelized form. i just think the story turned out really well and im still brainrotting over the concept a year later. also i wanna just spin the PCs around in my brain like washing machine.
a bit of background is that Elle is sort of like a investigator? and on an alone trip back to town from the party's camp she found a fighting ring, which she very much wanted to take part in. Blythe instantly got on her nerves when they stealth took her holy symbol while the two were talking bets, so yeah Elle went HARD in the fight. [Elle's player is also a bit of a minmaxer, and Elle is built really beefy and knows shit-]
word count ~600ish?
They didn’t remember before The Vulgar Helm. Not that it was much important or that the Helm was bad per say. It was familiar and comforting, the same cycle every day. Each afternoon, he would wake up from its little nook in the corner of the tavern, it would help Sarlor as he set up for the night. When they did their job right, they didn't have to worry about their lack of words, they did what they needed and they were good at it. By Avate were they good at it.
Working in the Helm also allowed them to watch, to watch all the other creatures that gathered there. To watch how they moved their mouths and created words, any words that they wanted, words of their own. Sometimes it took from them, collecting the words in phrases in tongues not his own and accents that they would not have. He didn’t know what his own voice sounded like, no Kenku did, all of them curse to forever only copy, never to create.
It was late at night when he met her. It wasn’t unusual to see a Tiefling in these parts, maybe a bit uncommon but not strange. She held herself with an air about her, like she knew exactly what she was doing, like she had always belonged there. It had pointed her to the next open opponent on the bracket, Blythe, the talk stocky rogue who was a regular and often fan favourite. The two had talked, across the room and out of earshot from him. He didn’t mind, she wasn’t anything special. At least that was how they thought until it saw her fight.
The fight between the two was quick, as these things often are. Blythe had come out swinging, pulling out lightning and weaving their way through the first barrage of attacks. Then the Pit had gone dark, it only lasted a few moments but when it dropped Blythe was already staggering. It only got worse for him from there, ending with them dropping suddenly from a well timed sleep spell.
It was beautiful and breathtaking and magical. It had to shake his head to clear his mind of the amazement that was etched into it as they quickly rushed down to call the winner and wake Blythe from their spot on the ground. They had thought the purple-toned stranger had left by the time he retook their spot by the board, but was surprised when they spotted her making her way through the crowd to him.
“Healing?” He asked earnestly. That was what it was for, it was a good job.
The Tiefling grinned, “Sure, if you have any spare.” And they gathered the warm feeling that spread over its feathers, pressing the sensation toward her. “I have a proposition for you, KattKall right?” She asked, tilting her head toward them ever so slightly. “Have you ever wanted to leave here? Go somewhere else? Be someone else?”
It took a moment to think of the words, to try and explain that they were safe here. They were wanted here. Not many other places would take in a Kenku. Then he looked back up at the strange woman and thought of the magic she used in her fight. It wanted to do that, to be like that. Pulling deeper back into his collection of words and voices they pulled out the proper word. “Adventure?”
“If you would like?” She held her hand out to the bird creature. “I’m Leolamir, Elle if you will.”
KattKall reached its hand out and grasped hers. “Adventure. Yes.”
my friends are so lovely and bright and make me laugh and smile so much more than i think possible. i love this stupid silly story we are making and the little guys that inhabit this world. i love so many things so much more than i thought possible
it was the last session of the campaign, complete with a boss fight and shitty parents- the whole shabang! :D
im so happy i got to finish it, it was the first campaign i have ever been able to start and finish in its entirety, and its doubly my first entirely homebrew campaign I've DM'd
i feel like the ending was satisfying, and the characters have a place to go and end their own stories.
my next campaign starts next week- and woooo boi it sure will be something :)
things that happened in todays session of the d&d campaign i run, which just so happened to be the penultimate session as next week is finals week and then its winter break.
random quotes + bits of context for the bois [mostly from our barbarian]
"such a kind gentleman" -barbarian, in reference to the corpse of a cultist, who was not actively a corpse at the time
Which Then Lead To: "are you sure?" -barbarian, after being told about said corpse.
As Well As: "alright! i believe you!" -barbarian, after being told about the certainty in regards to firstborn children
"so my dear friend here can't read, sadly i can" -barbarian, after taking books from our illiterate druid
"... i guess he is a terrorist. fine. but i dont have to like it" -barbarian, about going through the cultist's stuff
"i really hope you do die." -druid, i really dont remember the context for this one.
"the horse's name is Fuck." -paladin declaring for the horse the party has had since like session 3
"are you and Fuck still at the house?" -rogue's player to paladin but it was silly so it goes here.
[there were a lot of Fuck jokes stemming from the horse name, it was surprisingly funny the entire time, but we are all extremely sleep deprived so who knows]
"she [rogue] is very good at hiding." -barbarian, looking around the general store that rogue is decidedly not in
Also: a missing granddad who is very much not anyone's granddad, the town librarian is now on their side, druid and barbarian bounced back and forth about if barbarian should go and find druid's evil backstory guy, and oh shit rogue found where the cult is hiding, then was promptly found out despite her boots of elvenkind.
