michael shelley saw ryan get taken by something that simply couldn’t be. in an attempt to keep his world as he understood it, he grounded himself with facts, solid and unchanging. he obsessively researched anything and everything that could explain what happened to ryan, and picked up a job at the magnus institute.

that was michael’s existence, for a while. sleepless nights spent burying himself in research and reading and accounts. eventually, it stopped having a true direction. the pressure was welcome and comforting, a warm embrace. it guaranteed him solid reality he could trust.

he started to notice dirt under his nails where he had not been outside. his freckles grew denser in areas, forming handprint, and everywhere he walked, he left a set of dusty footprints.

i love his big trenchcoat, he’s playing the part and EATING

sorry to barge into your ask box but i have a new au idea that's been bubbling in me for a few minutes: Desolation Avatar Michael Shelley. it makes some sense since in the canon timeline michael the distortion is implied to be made up of michael Shelley's anger so what if the desolation sought him out somehow because of that anger and potential for destruction?

Ok ok so I had this in my notes app forever ago but 15 shades of Shelley where he’s an avatar of all the fears in a different chapter or fic or wtv bc his character leaves so much room to play w and i love him and i think a character study that way would be sooo yummy
