The Path of Practice, Bri. Maya Tiwari (F, 30s, blue puffer jacket, sunglasses, backpack, 24 Divisadero Inbound)
Hello, Saraswati
As part of my yoga teacher training program, one of the texts we're reading is Bri. Maya Tiwari's The Path of Practice: A Woman's Book of Ayurvedic Healing. Among the many wonderful, heartbreaking tales of those that Tiwari has been able to heal through ayurveda, there is a section on meditation that I found most intriguing.
Asking readers to keep a journal to help them discover their improvement or changes of their meditation practice, Tiwari introduces us to the Saraswati Mantra. The goddess of wisdom, creativity, and light, Saraswati's mantra is chanted to help the mind merge with its innate intuition. By invoking Saraswati, the chanter will be left feeling refreshed, open, and ready to express his- or herself.
Considering I'm a writer/blogger and am constantly (trying) to express myself, you can be sure that I'll be calling on Ms. Saraswati...a lot. I feel like she is going to be my new best friend.
Needing help with your own creativity? Why not join me in making friends with the goddess and chanting to her on the regular:
Aim Saraswatyai Namaha (ah-eem sah-rahs-wat-yi- nah-mah-ha)
