An Iterin traversing the Pathways with her mulkwyrm. The Pathways are pockets and veins of immense magical power, and, as a result of all this magic in one place, space gets warped in strange ways. With an experienced guide, they are a very useful way to travel large distances quickly. Without one, one step could simply be one step in one direction, a step across the world, or a step further into the never ending labyrinth of the Pathways.

“Adam!” Turning to the voice that called out, Adam’s face lit up. “Leo!” Adam’s wings ruffled in excitement as he ran towards the male who called him. Leo was a tall man with mid length dark brown hair and brown wings, much like Adam’s. He wore a dark green jacket with black torn pants. “How are you? When did you get back?” Leo asked, hugging the smaller male. “I just got here!” Adam grinned and turned. “Oh, as this is Seya and-” “Matt.” Leo finished, a smile on his face as he looked at the water dweller. “Leo.” Matt smiled back. Seya rolled his eyes, staring at Adam. “Anyways, we were just going to stay here for the night, pack and head out.” Adam explained. Leo seemed to finally notice Seya. “So who are you?” Leo asked. “Adam already introduced me.” Seya replied, moving his eyes to look at Leo. Scoffing, Leo turned to Adam and slung his arm around him. “Want to go get smashed? Like the good ol’ days?” Leo smirked, watching the smaller male squirm. “Okay. Let’s go to the store first.” Adam smiled. Sighing, Seya followed the two air dwellers. “Hey, don’t worry. This is a neutral city.” Matt said, looking down at Seya with a grin. Grimacing, Seya nodded. “I know. I know all about the world, I just never experienced it.” “I-I didn’t mean to offend-” Matt stuttered, a little panicked he pissed Seya off. “You didn’t. Just….” Seya shook his head, looking up at the tall buildings. “I’m worried because of this city. It’s divided, right?” Matt looked up at the sky. “Yeah. But it’s not hostile.” “Maybe. But I’d rather be in a Outlander place rather than Warlord ruled.” Seya shrugged, glancing up ahead. “We can go to the castle, it connects both sides.” Matt suggested. “Oh, and there’s a bunch of tunnels we can go through if you want.” Seya shrugged. “Eh, I know. I’m just wanting to get out of the sun. My vision is getting bad.” Matt’s eyes widened. “Fuck. I forgot. Shit. We can buy you a pair of shades that are made for your eyes.” Matt said, looking around at the buildings, hoping to see a shop. “It’s not going to kill me. I can last for another two days. But if we can buy them before that….” Seya said. “Adam, Leo!” Matt yelled at the two ahead of them. “What?” Leo yelled, looking behind them. Seya sighed, walking up to Adam. “Where are we going?” Seya asked, looking at Adam. Adam noticed that Seya’s grey eyes were murky and his pupils were almost non existent. He thought it was weird but didn’t say anything. “There’s a pub, it’s a few minutes away. We’ll be there soon.” Adam replied

“Welcome to the HQ of the Black Order.” A tall woman with short pale purple hair and fins tucked under her hair smiled. “I’m heading back to my station, I’ve been called to assist” Seya told her as he walked past. A look of annoyance passed onto her face as she and Adam watched him walk away and turn around a corner. “Sorry about him.” Sighing as she used her hand to push back her hair, a tired look on her face. Quickly gathering herself, she extended her hand. “My name is Alexandrite. Xan for short.” She smiled as Adam shook her hand. “S-sorry for the sweaty hand..” Adam blushed, his head down. “It’s alright, I can understand how you’re nervous.” She put her hand on his shoulder, a warm look on her face. “I was the same when I first came here.” Adam swallowed and shyly looked up at her. As he saw her expression, he looked a little relieved. “Follow me and I’ll get you some food and show you the dorms.” — After being left alone to eat, he sat alone in the busy cafeteria. He watched as people came in and left. Surprised he wasn’t the only tengu hybrid, he noticed he was still the only one with black and white wings. He looked down at his water, apparently it had minerals to give him some extra energy. “Seya, you fucker!” He heard someone yell. He looked up and saw a ghoul. Hybrid he realized when he saw no fangs or claws. Seya, who was walking in with someone else, looked up. With a look of recognition, he gave him the finger. Catching his eye, Adam blushed and looked down. He didn’t want to admit that he found the smaller blonde intriguing. “Hey.” Seya’s rough voice brought his head back up. “O-oh, hey.” Adam replied, drinking some water to calm him down. “This is Matt.” Seya introduced, pointing his thumb over to the taller male. “Yo.” Matt greeted, a grin on his face. He had light blue and green hair, fins pushed back and almost mostly hidden under his hat. His black jacket had the same emblem Seya’s did. “This is Adam.” Seya explained as he sat down and put his bag on the table. “He’s the newbie I was talking about.” “Ooooh.” Matt smiled as he sat down, his bag on the table as well. Adam forced a nervous smile, quietly eating his food

Adam stood in the entrance room with apprehension. He was left to wait there after a long car ride in which he was blindfolded until taken to what he could only assume was the entrance room. Not like he was walking at all when they brought him in. Or awake. But this much was expected of the the Black Order. His dream had always been to be a part of the Black Order. Though he never knew what it was called before. He had spent year working on improving his skill with computers and technology. He worked on it until he was impressed and then he worked more. It continued on like this for about a century. He thought himself ready and hacked into many different servers and programs to look more into the Order. Each time he was turned away and barely got away before his entire system was wiped. But the last few times he had actually been able to find out more about how people were taken in and assessed. All he had to do was find someone who was officially part of the Order. It wasn’t until he heard from a friend of a friend about a meeting place with an official Order worker that he saw his chance. Still, he never expected to actually be accepted into the Order. He sighed, trying to calm his nerves as he sat down on one of the few seats in the small room. The room was big and quiet. The walls were made of some sort of metal that all seemed to be rusting on the edges. The door the guard left out of was also made of metal but seemed thicker with blue paint chipping at it. It was the only door in the room. Adam looked down at his sleeves of his sweater. They had a few small holes here and there but the ends were frayed due to his constant biting them. There was also a few loose threads that dangled down to his hands. Bringing his hand up, he started biting his already chipped nails. After what felt like hours, a short blonde boy walked in. He had long and wavy blonde hair, tied up messily with a grey ribbon. His eyes were dark grey with dark and heavy bags. He wore a screen on one eye which connected to a headset. A tattered and frayed blue sweater covered his top half. His pants were baggy with a bunch of pockets. Black and blue boots that had an odd shine to them covered his feet. Glancing at Adam, he looked down to his binder he held. “Adam, I presume?” He asked. His voice sounded raspy and seemed to carry though he talked in a low tone. “Ah, um, that’s me.” Adam replied, quickly bringing his hand away from his mouth. He suddenly felt like he was being evaluated. “Hmmm…. Okay. Come with me.” The boy replied, opening the binder and glancing over the first page quickly and then closing it. Adam stood up abruptly which caused him a second of dizziness. The boy was beside him right away, holding his arm. “I take it you haven’t eaten, correct?” He asked, peering up at Adam. Blushing from embarrassment, Adam had just looked down. “Ah, sorry.” The boy took a step back. “This must be weird. My name is Seya. ” Seya held out a hand in front of Adam. Shaking his hand, Adam nodded. “Adam, as you’ve mentioned earlier.” Seya made a grunt and turned around. “Follow me and I’ll tell you what’s what.” “Okay.” Adam followed as Seya led him out of the room and into a long hallway. “The first question I have for you is simple.” Seya glanced behind him towards Adam. “Why are you here?” Confusion flooded Adam’s mind. “To join the Order..?” Seya seemed to quiet after that while they walked in silence. After a few minutes, anxiety filled Adam’s body. He turned to look behind him and saw the door they came through was quite a distance away. “Don’t feel worried. Where we came from is about a half hour away in my speed which you could usually keep up with, according to your record.” Seya slowed down until they were walking side by side. “We could get there faster, but your health is first priority so we are walking slowly.” Adam looked away. “Sorry.” Seya shrugged. “To be honest, I don’t really care. But I do have interest in you.” “Oh…. Can I ask why…?” Adam glanced to the side and studied Seya’s face. “Because you deal with technology. And that’s my field.” Seya turned and looked Adam in the eye. “Plus you’ve hacked a few times I was doing work which was really annoying but I would like to learn how you got past all my firewalls and malware.” Adams eyes widened. Seya smirked. What an asshole Adam thought as he glared at the ground. “Yes, I am.” Seya replied. “W-wait.. You are telepathic?!” Adam asked, his wings ruffling up. “Nope. I just get that response a lot.” Seya sounded amused. “Oh, and I’m not much of a telepath but I am a good empath.” “So you can… Read emotions…?” “Yes. Also, you’re losing energy.” Seya’s arm shot out in front of Adam’s chest. Startled, Adam’s wings rose up. “A-and..?” “Well I can either carry you and go my speed or we can sit here for an hour or so.” Oh…. Adam nodded. He didn’t want to be looked down on and he didn’t want to make Seya angry either. He didn’t know how far up on scale Seya was and what power he held. “I-I’ll do what you think is best.” Adam said quietly. Seya nodded. “Okay. Get on my back. I’ll need you to hold the binder though.” Adam rethought his decision after looking at Seya again. He was a good five inches shorter than him. “I may be short but I can assure you that I’ve lived longer than you.” Seya snarled, his top lip curled and sharp points were shown. “Sorry..!” Adam’s hands flew up in his defence. Seya just rolled his eyes. “Hurry up and get on.” Adam hopped on his back, getting a good hold and feeling a bit embarrassed. “Hold on tight.” Adam nodded and squeezed a bit too hard for a normal person. Seya took a deep breath and began to move. Adam felt grateful Seya had given him a warning because he was sure that if he didn’t hold on with all he had, he would’ve fallen off with quite a few injuries. Luckily, his wings had been tucked in as well. Otherwise, he feared they would have been injured pretty badly. A few questions formed as he held onto the shorter boy but he decided not to ask. Yet. “Half vampire. Not sure what my other half is. I’m not telling my age. And no, I’m not going any faster. Yes, we’ll have a full interview when we get there. ‘There’ is actually about another 10 minutes.” Seya said in an annoyed tone. Or at least Adam thought it was. He wasn’t sure. What he knew about Seya so far was little to none. He decided to stay quiet for the rest of the ride. Which wasn’t very long. Seya stopped abruptly at the end of the hall. A wall was in front of them and to the left was a clearing with a huge steel door. “You can get off now, if you want.” “O-oh, okay.” Adam stuttered. He quickly got off and stood still as he watched Seya walk towards the door to a small box beside it. Opening the box, he placed his hand onto a screen and muttered something. The door opened as Seya turned towards him. “Come on. We’ll get you something to snack on.” Adam nodded, walking with him.

*beep *beep *beep that’s how my morning started. Fire detacher woke me up from my sleep. As I rush down a flit of steps with sleep still in my eyes looking for the black smoke in a room. My heart is racing a mile a min i push open door one, moms room little brother lifts his head to see whats going on as he looks back at me. To soon to stop worrying is the thought that goes thru my mind as i quickly move to the next room. Living room is clear kitchen? Clear nothing to go on fire in the bathroom. The beeping comes to a stop and my heart comes to a steady beat, that’s when i noticed my little brother forgot to close the apartment door and my down stairs neighbor was cooking.*sigh walk in to the bathroom rubbing the back of neck thinking about the worse case that could of happened just now. Washed my face and brushed my teeth. As I’m leaving the bathroom i get an image of my father in my head so i come to a stop to remember the last conversation i had with him *sigh cant remember. Is this going to be my life for the rest of my life i ask myself or is there a bigger picture to it all. but my name is Mason and I’m a 18 year old freshmen in college seeking a better life then the average paycheck and the father that leaves. Makes me feel like another report in some worldwide graph bar of black African American fathers leaving there wife’s and kids for another women.

This wasn’t good we had company and we never fought a wolf before and they roll together depending on how big this pack was we were going to die this night, but not without a fight we had Jason after all. A man came out the shadows of the door way he was about six feet three inches dark hair it was in a pony tail and he was shirt less with ripped jeans he looking like he could take Tyson on a bad day. Then four more men came out from behind him and came in to the light Bethea took a step forwards I guess he knew who this man was and his thugs of mindless puppy’s. “Did u really think we wouldn’t find u Bethea?” said the black hair man Bethea got low ready to attack “I wouldn’t know till I try now wouldn’t I” “we will let this go but u hanging out with vampires is death unless u come to my side and help us your new family kill those cold blooded lechers”. “Watch how u talk about my brother before I rip you a new air hole” he was showing his teeth now I dashed to his side Raven and Jason came to his right side Emily to my left and Tyson came up behind Bethea we were ready to fight, and die fighting if it came to that. “Leave now!” “Or you will do what” the other four men were already wolfs but they were on two feet growling. This made me thing were there two types of wolfs are could they all do that but this wasn’t the time for that Bethea took a step in front of me and got bite on his shoulder Emily was on the move next she did a side flip over me landing on Bethea’s other shoulder on one leg, she grabbed the wolf that was biting him and punched him across the face he let go of his grip on Bethea. Emily moved of his shoulder as he leaps towards another wolf changing to his four leg form as I come up behind him at full speed Tyson was going after the wolf that Emily had punched away with her. Jason had already kill one wolf with his power while Raven was in the mist of her own fight she was above the last wolf coming down like an axe over his head. Bethea missed the wolf he was going for but he yelled “Roman!!!!!!” he was talking to the dark haired man who was changing to the two leg wolf as was Bethea his was much bigger then Bethea which worried me a little I had to take care of this wolf alone and fast. He threw a punch I bent over backwards and then I did a hand stand and kicked him in the back of his head pitting him to the ground as I flip back on my feet and in one move I was over him he pushed himself up and sent us both flying straight up I got off him fast and landed on my feet he turns over and grabbed the ceil then leap to a walk and came flying my way I flipped him over my shoulder standing him crashing to the ground breaking it I showed my fangs. I was angry now I grabbed him by his face and thru him back to the wall he came from he crashed in to it I ran to were the was going to land and put my hand thru his chest holding his heart in my hand it was beating fast he was scared to die. “I don’t want to kill you now leave before I change my mind” I pull my hand out and rush to Bethea’s side the wolf I left alive jump towards me and I felt the air change around me I turned around to see the wolfs head flying one way while his body was being kicked upwards by Raven. Jason took his head off by the time it landed on the ground we were all at Bethea’s side
