An Iterin traversing the Pathways with her mulkwyrm. The Pathways are pockets and veins of immense magical power, and, as a result of all this magic in one place, space gets warped in strange ways. With an experienced guide, they are a very useful way to travel large distances quickly. Without one, one step could simply be one step in one direction, a step across the world, or a step further into the never ending labyrinth of the Pathways.

A type of people in a fantasy universe I’m building:

Veins of magic form convenient pathways throughout the world, but the intense concentration of magic is dangerous for anyone untrained in how to deal with it.

Iterins are a group of humans that live most of their lives within the Pathways. As they spend more and more time within it, their physical forms are corrupted in a variety of manners. Within the Pathways they are extremely powerful, but because of the changes to their bodies, they are reliant on the Pathway’s magic to survive, and find it difficult to leave. 

Iterins usually work as guides to outsiders, allowing them to safely travel within the Pathways.
