Worst Books I read in 2024

The Girl the Sea Gave Back - I just…did not like this, where the first book flowed this book felt confusing and repetetive. The Dollmakers - The main character annoyed me and the reasoning for events felt…stupid. The Princetta - too fast, not enough depth and just choppy Gridlinked - just so meh and anytime it felt like things were picking up the book slowed down and the ending was…confusing and weird. A Lesson in Vengeance - just ended up kinda annoyed with the characters and story throughout like they kept getting in the way of the good story that kept creeping about the edges.

The Princetta is just suffering the book disguised as an adventure fantasy, change my mind.

The Princetta is a story about royalty, pirates, ships and crew, a young female protagonist, betrayals and mystery and adventure and danger, friendship, love, loss, dreams, reality, hope, family, it's a story about coming of age and learning by experience. It's really, really good in terms of worldbuilding - seriously, awesome worldbuilding - as well as having a variety of characters with their own strengths, a complex female character- a 15 year old girl, and the novel ends with her at 17 years old - for the main character, and deals with so many concepts and a whole wash of emotions in a skillful and engaging manner, and just - there's so much to it you have to read it, you'll love it. you'll laugh...and cry. it deals with love and loss and all of these things in a very mature way, it doesn't dumb things down or simplify these things, the author presents them through the eyes of a 15-17 year old and does it justice. And you will cry. But they handle that really well too, i think.
