The Puppet King

I had fun translating this, and I think it would be really fun to translate more!Voice Actor - D.P.Moehle as RomeoAlso I stream Every Day! C

The Puppet King. Or the Puppeteer. Was a lonely man who used to build and sell puppets or would also put on plays with his puppets. He lost his money and business thanks to ex friends who stole from him. He was desperate one day and brought two puppets to life. He didn’t expect them to have strange powers though. The Queen’s arms turned into claws that can stretch and as long as she was attached to the controller she could fly. The Prince could walk around with or without the controller, his legs grew longer and thinner and almost looked like wooden stakes. Anytime he had his puppets, he was always wearing the King’s mask with his face. People believed he went insane, some people feared him, but most people seem interested to get to know him better. But he never shared his secrets with anybody. Rarely spoke to anyone. People thought he was probably shy. He was very protective of his Queen and Prince puppets, he never allowed anyone to hold them. He used to have an assistant who would help him get the parts for his puppets or fix anything broken when he’s busy with something else. They rarely spoke though since she was shy and some days felt as though the Queen puppet was glaring at her. He was very sweet and kind to her and sometimes he would talk about his puppets if she asked about them. He wouldn’t say much but make some jokes about them but she couldn’t tell if he was actually being serious or not since he loved them very much. Her name was Madeline who was also in her twenties and she loved helping the Puppeteer. He never knew she had feelings for him.
Histories Appreciation Week 2019- Day 4: Coronation/Deposition Day
(Five universes in which Richard of Bordeaux was usurped.)
1: The Bastard of Bordeaux.
It is not, John tells himself, really as though he is usurping anything. Joan and Edward’s marriage was a secret. His father had refused to grant his blessing to their love affair when they asked permission to marry in the first place, and now they are both dead who is to say that Edward III would even acknowledge the existence of a union he publicly forbade?
And anyway, Richard is seven. The King will be dead before his grandson is even approaching his majority, and what would a child want with a crown?
No, John thinks. Better to keep his late brother’s marriage a secret, his surviving child a bastard- and John will ascend the throne in due course, as is his right as his father’s oldest, legitimate son.
2: As The Wife of Henry IV
Richard closes her eyes and grimaces as she finally finishes retching. She cannot abide the indignities of morning sickness, and this time around it seems worse than ever. “I would have music,” she says, more to remind her fussing, twittering ladies that despite her condition, she is still capable of giving orders and having them obeyed, more than anything else. “Mary-“ she glances around her women and frowns as she notices that her friend is missing.
“Where is my Lady de Bohun?” she asks and does not miss the way her ladies in waiting all exchange glances, shifting uncomfortably before one of them says.
“She- she isn’t here, your grace.”
“I am pregnant, not blind,” Richard snaps. “Where is she?”
“…she is with the hunt,” another of her ladies says, cheeks faintly flushed. Richard almost laughs.
“The hunt? You must be mistaken; Mary doesn’t like hunting.”
“The King invited her, your grace. Personally.”
Richard feels as though she has been dumped in the middle of a frozen lake as she catches the drift of her ladies’ embarrassment. It seems- obvious- if Richard thinks about it, if she lets her mind wander back of weeks of – not odd, exactly, but- obvious- instances, more than weeks, months, perhaps- “And how long,” she asks quietly, the cold seeping in to her tone “has everyone except my self known that I have been usurped in my husband’s affection?”
No one answers her. “Lady?” a small voice pipes up- one of her new companions, blond and sweet faced. Richard cannot recall her name. “I can play the harp, if you wish- not as well as- but I can play, if you would still like music?”
Richard inhales, and nods. “Thank you…” she says.
“Bushy,” the girl supplies helpfully, and Richard nods again. “Thank you, Lady Bushy. Robert?” she turns to her friend, who immediately helps her to her feet and back towards the bed.
“He hasn’t slept with her,” Robert mutters in an undertone. “I would know, if he had.”
She would; Robert knows everything, all of the gossip-
“Regardless,” Richard replies, so that only the Duchess of Oxford can hear. “When My Lady de Bohun returns from the hunt, you may inform her that I no longer require her services.”
3. The Puppet King.
Richard supposes that he ought to be grateful.
He has not been deposed or murdered in his bed- he is still the King. But a King subject to the whims of his cousin Boling-
A King subject to the whims of his cousin of Lancaster. A King subjected to a Duke- no, Dukes are the subjects of Kings , Richard-
Richard might still have the crown on his head, but it is Henry who rules.
4: 1388
Richard, the lords appellant are keen to stress, is not to be blamed for being led astray by bad council. But the fact remains, he was led astray, and is clearly unfit for office. Perhaps, they lament, if the Duke of Lancaster had not died so tragically in Spain earlier in the year, they might have prevented all this. As it is, Lancaster is dead, Richard of Bordeaux deposed, and the next male descendent of Edward III’s line, Henry of Derby, crowned King Henry IV in his place. King Henry, too, will be guided by council- naturally, he is even younger than Richard is. But the right council this time. Gloucester’s council. Arundel’s council. Warwick’s council.
As for Richard, he and his wife are free to do as they please, so long as they do it within the confines of the small country estate where they are- not under house arrest, exactly, but also not free to come and go as they please. They will, Henry swears, have no trouble from him- if he has no trouble from them.
Anne has almost convinced herself he means it when she wakes up in the dead of night to find her husband coughing up blood beside her, his hand searching frantically for hers as he convulses and spasms and succumbs to deadly poison.
5. Bohemian Shenanigans.
Even Richard, it transpired, did not consider it practical to wear a crown in to battle. But Henry slipped the coronation ring of his cousin’s slender finger, and on to his own, and could almost swear he felt the transition of power deep in his very soul. At the very least, he felt himself to be more alive than he had in months- perhaps even years- whilst Richard, laid out unconscious on Henry’s bed, might never wake again. That wound on his head….
For the briefest of moments, Henry’s fingers brushed the hilt of his dagger. It would be quick, painless, perhaps even a mercy…
He put the impulse aside. Richard deserved many things but mercy, as far as Henry was concerned, was not one of them.
What I love about this is that Raven already had her spooky hood up during her date before Puppet King even showed up. That’s such a Raven thing to do.
description under cut
new sitcom: too many puppets
The Puppet King’s abilities are not being used well by the brotherhood. Instead of collecting all these ice sculptures, they could let him make puppets of all the caught heroes, but instead he just gets his ass handed to him by a little dude who doesn’t even have powers at the moment.
Did Eret get to join the Broken by Dream club?
Not really no; The two oldest members lets say, Gogy and Sapnap don't really see Eret as equal not even in that he's just the puppet king. For a more meta-answer, you can bet the man is part of it, Gods he got so screwed over by Dream, poor, poor Eret like he wanted power and recognition and got... manipulation and loneliness .-.
