It is listed as part 4 of a series, but it's a shared universe situation, all books are independent of each other. I can't say much about the story yet, but the general world is a capitalist dystopia, and in each story, people break out of it for whatever reason. This time, it seems to have started with a grafitty in a public bathroom?

What I can say about the author is that I have read multiple of their books, and 1) I generally love their writing, 2) other people I have shown it to always comment on how good their humour is, 3) they have a lot of a-spec, trans and neurodivergent rep, 4) I really like the way that they write those groups.

Catching up on Book Reviews #6: The Repossessed by Robin Banks

A stand-alone novel set within the bigger universe of Heinlein’s Finches, The Repossessed deals with the fallout of the massacre on Pollux. The surviving children escaped to various space stations, where they hide and survive with great difficulties. The protagonist stumbles upon one such group, and vows to bring them all home.

From Banks’ books that I have read so far, this one is the most adult. While the protagonists are not much older than those of other books, they already have got jobs and have learned how to act like a grown-up. It also has some darker subjects exist on the edges, in a way that they cannot be overlooked. But apart from that, it still has the signature parts of the author’s writing: the relaxed feel to it, and the question of how to live your own life instead of following society’s expectations.

I always like Banks’ writing, and this book was no different.
