FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS
there's always one, some long-faced, sour-belly, son of a gun!
no one:
the thing (1982), as portrayed in the 2010 short story The Things by Peter Watts: Gender? Humiliating. An ache. A pain. Needing to siT DOWN. SpaTIAl AWarenESS. The vulgarity. There’s bones. There’s bones in my face. There’s bones in your face. Aren’t you embarrassed? Every day I wake up and am subject to the burden of embodiment. How dare I be a shape. Disgusting.

i think a lot of the fandom seems to overlook the fact that cartman and kyle are essentially the same base character but with different ideals. they’ll both do and say things that go against their self-proclaimed beliefs or go to levels that are objectively morally unethical either to prove a point, best the other, or simply get back at an entity that they believe has wronged them. it’s this twisted mindset that they both share that clouds their judgement and overall ability to step back and think about the ramifications of what they’re actually doing that makes them so similar in character. of course kyle is far more morally sound as opposed to eric and more often than not DOES reflect on his actions and their consequences (typically after they’ve occurred), but he still goes to great lengths nonetheless. both of them share a superiority complex that removes their sense of logic even IF it’s for the betterment of something else, but at the same time they’re usually done for superficial reasons. the two are incredibly passionate in their respective roles and will never turn down the opportunity to prove the other right even if it means soiling the environment for other people. but generally i think people should acknowledge the level of toxicity that they share and how it easily compels them to make impulsive decisions; the entire cast is filled with a bunch of self-serving little kids and yet i feel like the fandom just glosses over that fact to paint certain characters in a different, starker light when in reality nobody is exempt from being completely irrational/selfish. but kyman definitely takes the cake when it comes to this sentiment.
