I know Blizzard just released a book with an official timeline in it this year but a lot of people seem to have missed this fact, so here, have an NPC confirming the Third War being a decade before Cataclysm (which falls in line with the Deadmines quest putting VC's death 5 years prior- the end of Vanilla, which began 4 years after the end of the Third War).

So go forth with this knowledge, shut up, and stop arguing about how long it's been.

edit: the official timeline apparently says eight years (apparently I can't read; I blame blindness and drugs), which is obnoxious as hell because that's the only thing that doesn't line up now? Blizzard needs to hire more historians, I think.
