Ovelia forced a small smile, and nodded. âBrigandâs Den is it? I thank you both for your hospitality,â she said, looking first to the woman. The man with them had called MilleuâŠoh dear. She hadnât heard the full name. The manâs hadnât even been said. She wasnât certain how she was going to pull this off, to at least keep them unaware of her actual station - a station she did not ask for and wanted even less. Besides, who knows how Delita was going to handle this. Had he simply allowed her to leave, it was likely that the event would go public in that case - even if altered. However, if he did notâŠit was likely that there would be a search for the âwayward queen.â
The pair before her were not idiots, she was sure, and if word reached them about a missing, injured queenâŠwhat then? Would they use her too? Or would they simply finish her off and leave her somewhere to be found? It would be simple enough either way. She could not begin to argue the âpupâ term that the man had used to describe her.Â
How telling it was that the idea no longer horrified her as much as it had before the war. The armored woman took a spot in one of the roomâs corners, letting herself slide down to the floor in exhaustion. Aegis would be wearing off soon most likely, and she wasnât certain it was wise to cast it around them. Her murmured prayer from earlier may have not been the best idea either - if either heard her words.
ââŠSo, do you come out here often?â Ovelia found herself asking after moments of awkward silence. It was entirely innocent in her mind, a simple question for conversation with those that she seemed to be stuck with this evening. There was no way she could go back until the morning.
The knight looked to the young stranger. âMy sister used this as her base of operations during our revolution. It truly was no different than it is right now as a matter of fact...After it fell, it no doubt had many other inhabitants looking for shelter.â Wiegraf looked around the old shack and found a spot to sit. He examined the young woman they had stumbled upon. She looked familiar somehow, but he could not place where...Either way, it seemed she was of no threat at the moment, however she seemed weak in spirits.
âAre you injured? My sister knows some healing magics if you are in need of them.â Motioning to Milleuda. âHowever, we cannot offer up much in terms of food. We currently only have enough for the two of us.â

âPa had a way with chocobos. Sometimes I think he was an oracle in disguise. There were times in wich pa would return from his knight errands and bring red chocobos with him.â Lamya giggled, reminiscing about good old Sir Gilmore. It has been three years since his passing. Thinking of the times they tended to the birds together brought her  a few moments of happiness. If only he was here.
âTheyâre so adorable when theyâre lilâ chicobos! Golly, I love em so much! They just become more lovely as they grow. Loyal birds tilâ the very end.â She smiled as Quixote rubbed his fluffy head against her side. Long, ebony tail feathers now wiggling with delight.
âIâm Lamya, Lamya Faelan.â She extended her hand.â You seem quite hungry Sir Knight. Please, help yourself with some food. I have big and fresh sirloin fillets ready to eat at anytime!â
âRed chocobos are among some of the most powerful known, your father might very well have had a talent as an oracle...â He smirked.
Nodding, he chuckled. âYes, loyal, and damn near indestructible! Boco was my companion through the Fifty Years war and beyond...If only I could meet him once more, I miss him.â He sighed, his smirk turning into a somber smile as the black chocobo wiggled with delight.
He bowed. âWiegraf Folles. A pleasure to meet you, Lamya. While I would like nothing more than to accept your hospitality, I do not wish to intrude. I must also meet up with my sister, sheâs not too far from here.â
âI have no wish to change the world.â

Ovelia shifted to where she could still stand, but leaning. It wasnât much butâŠat least if she were to be killed here and now she could at least be told to have died on her feet with some dignity - whatever she had left to herself anyway. Thank god for Aegis granting her enough vigor to remain standing when she did not feel much like it at all. âI did not mean to give offense and trespass. I had thought it abandoned,â she finally replied, avoiding the subject of who and what she was. The young, former queen had come up with everything but a story to go on. What could she even say of herself that they would even believe?
âMy name is Lia, and I was simply passing through and after being chased by fiends had no choice but to stop here. I-Itâs only for a single eve! No more!â She looked between the man and woman, noting their similar characteristics - sibliings? Cousins perhaps? How nice it must be, to have family that one could actually depend upon!
A dreadful feeling started in her chest and slide down into the pit of her stomach⊠If they chose to, they could most likely end her easily enough. While she had learned a bit of defense, they actually looked like they had been through quite a bit.
âGodâŠplease deliver me this night safely into the morning lightâŠâ
Wiegraf gripped his sisterâs shoulder. âWe do not own this land, Milleuda...That we occupied it during the revolution was no different from this girl. We had no place to go...â He waited for her to calm down. God, what was she thinking starting out like this?
He looked towards the stranger once more. âWe hold no ill will to you, Lia. But we are a cautious group...and my sister has a short temper.â He sighed, stepping ahead of the younger Folles sibling. âStand down, I doubt this pup is our enemy...So letting her stay the night canât hurt us, right? Besides, if she proves to be deceiving us, Iâll let you do the honors of dispatching her.â

âQuixote!â The lady gasped. What was her fatherâs chocobo up to now? The black chocobo walked towards her. He chirped with delight as he approaches Lamya. He has herded a knight towards the farm. What a good boy he was! âOh Golly, I hope he didnât cause any trouble.â
âPapa Gilmore trained olâ Quixote to receive traveling knights and guide em to safe grounds. Heâs our farm ambassador.â Lamya explained, gently patting the chocoboâs head with one hand while the other kept a hold of the basket.Â
Wiegraf watched the chocobo as it approached the woman. He tilted his head, âNo such trouble, but I was honestly not expecting a chocobo guide...âÂ
Continuing to watch as the now apparent owner of the chocobo explained the situation, he noted the care she showed towards the bird. âYour father seems to be a rather talented person. I trained one from the egg, and still he would get lost along with me...â He chuckled, remember one such time with Boco.

âItâs been a while since I had actual knights in shininâ armour coming to my humble abode. How can I help ya?â Her smile went from ear to ear. On Lamyaâs hands laid a large basket with all sorts of fruits and vegetables within.
âDonât be fooled, mâlady. I am no knight in shining armour...their ilk know not the truth of combat or war. Milksops, the lot of them...â He sighed and looked behind him. âI was dragged here by a sodding chocobo if you would believe it...â
"Kweeeh! Can you feel the sunshine? Does it brighten up your daaay? Dont you feel that sometimes, you just gotta run awaaaay?"
â...Are you drunk again, Rojo?â
Yo, so great.

| â |  âIf you do not mind me asking, good sir, where is it that you received your weapon? It is quite exquisite.â He had never had any qualms with talking to even complete and utter strangers, loudly expressing himself with little to no shame at all- and this, this was an even more extraordinary case, considering the weapon the stranger had.
Steiner tilts his head to get a better look at it, sword and sheathe and hilt alike; before straightening up again. âIf it is possible might I hold it?â He would never deny his love for weaponry and armor, at least not at all times.
âMy sword...?â He looked down at the blade in his possession. He had received this blade when he entered the Knightâs Templar, yet he kept it while wearing his old Brigade uniform. Worse yet, it was a loan from the Holy Vault of all things. That they would entrust such a thing to him never seemed to make sense.
âIt was given to me for my service...though I no longer serve the order.â He looked at the man before him, and then to his sword once more. âI suppose I have no qualm with you holding it. But know that if you turn it against me, youâll suffer painfully...â With that, he outstretched his arm, presenting the sword to the stranger.
