Le Mal-Aimé, Un Conte de Noël (The Unloved, A Christmas Tale - 2025)

Since it's the end of October, the Robert Carlyle (RumGold/Don) interest induced "crush" is a few days over a year by now.
I say crush because that's the most simplified label for this, but it's not exactly that. Although since it functions and appears very similar, I might as well call it that. I hoped it would "turn off" eventually, but considering the way my other special interest/hyperfixation combo works, that's unlikely. If it does go down, it will only appear to go away, but in reality it's just me hyperfixating on something else which disguises the others.
Weird shirt. I don't recall him wearing a checker pattern after that. enjoy the teeth.
(Orginally this was supposed to be a semi overview of the characters but somehow it became that. I'll leave the original sentence for RumGold though.)
Yeah, he's the guy that started it all for me. I knew years ago when Ouat was airing I would like him so I avoided the show because of that. I have a few dumb original posts for him too. They suck though and are cringe. Especially this weird as shit one about teeth. Seriously, I have never cared about the way a celebrity's teeth looked. Why couldn't I be fixated on his hands or eyes, why his teeth?? Anyways, solid character despite the writing turning to shit in the later seasons.
Average man. Most of the complex stuff we know about this character is outside the movie. I know why people call this character "deep" but it still doesn't make sense to me. I don't even know if this is real, but the lighting makes it look like he has some kind of lip scar similar to Lana Parrilla's lip scar. I don't think it's anything, it's just something I can especially see in this scene. 28 Weeks Later is also much less “tumblr material” compared to other Carlyle projects. I can’t imagine a film like weeks will attract many tumblr (or adjacent) people for many reasons.
This was the third Carlyle character I watched. As I said on Letterboxd, "if someone walked in while I was watching this I think they would think I was watching an obscure 90s gay p0rnography thing". Alright, but this dude is kinda a dumbass but I see why some people affectionately call him a rat here.
Eragon was an okay fantasy film. This guy doesn't appear very much. You would get more emotional mileage out of other films.
Regardless of Carlyle, Trainspotting is a pretty good film. Definitely not for children though. Franco and the whole group are pretty entertaining to watch. Would never be like him, but I do feel like an angry little bitch sometimes. I also made a Robert Carlyle Mii and considered the mustache, but to quote my friend, "he looks like a different historical figure."
I heard Trainspotting 2 works best if you waited 20 years after the first. Now, due to inconvenience, I did not wait 20 years, but the film is still pretty fun. Also, not for children. One time I tried to tell someone in real life about Carlyle's teeth and this was one of the images I used to show his bottom teeth. This role is also the reason why Mr. Gold's hair is like that in Season 6.
Completely honest, Ravenous 1999 isn't my favorite, but it’s more tumblr popular than the others and I have a mutual that really likes it. I see why the gaysᵗᵐ and random people seem to like it. Normally, when people say characters are super gay coded sometimes I wonder if it's just the gaysᵗᵐ thinking too hard. This is not one of those cases. You are either not watching or are John Boyd himself to not pick up the coding. Besides that, I did actually get hungry from this film. Any eating, even if it's immoral, makes me hungry. I'm not eating people.
(He's making soup. So, like, "Bowl of soup")
Wow, this character is an idiot, but I feel terrible for him. Also, this is the character that let me figure out that some Carlyle characters drink quite a bit of alcohol. Also I realize his braclets and ring are something he wore outside of the film in 2012?
Well, he's supposed to be a real person in this show. One notable thing is him talking to a guy in the bathroom. The number one unspoken rule of male bathrooms is to not say anything to each other. There's also a stupid moment right after, but I think watching it would be more funny. Besides that, Toxic Town is pretty interesting on its own. Being based on real events.
Well I feel bad for this one. There's a lot of mental "whump" if you ask me. I'm noticing a theme where either the character is a bad parent of the character has a bad parent (or parents). This is also a directorial debut for Carlyle and it's based on a book.
This character and the mother are never given actual names. Anyways, an actual dipshit here. I realized from this character that Carlyle characters are often fathers. I have not watched all of his projects but it appears to be a common trait. Unrelated but why is the hair like that? It’s so gross looking. I guess it’s part of the character? Besides that, The Unloved 2009 is a pretty compelling film. It's depressing and a slow movie on purpose but I think it's worth you give time for one watch. (My latest watched film for Carlyle is this lazy bastard wow)
Yeah I don't take the time to watch that many films. I don't know if it's ND stuff or i'm just dumb. Tried to sort the which projects I watched in order but I don't exactly remember. I do know of (Dr.) Nicolas Rush, Father Joseph MacAvoy, and other roles/characters but I have not watched those yet so I don’t have much opinions on them.
