Thinking about the hidden injury trope, but where whumpee really isn’t trying to hide anything, they just actually don’t realize anything is wrong.

Prime example might be with a concussion. Whumpee just has a headache but otherwise insists they’re fine. But they don’t realize that others are noticing them zoning out, being off balance, acting irritably, wincing at bright lights and loud noises, generally just seeming not themself, etc.

I have the dumb idea that Rumplestiltskin’s first name in the land without magic should be Erik Gold. Not just Mr. Gold. I’ve heard Rumford and Robert being used in some fanfics. Plus some other names brought up by fans. A Reddit post had people agree Adam was a good name. In reference to the Disney Beast. But I don’t know, Erik Gold sounds a little better to me than Adam Gold for some reason.

i don't have to tell you that US military ads are so creepy. looking at the different angles they try to draw kids into it like... there were these ones a few years back that were basically about making friends and belonging somewhere ?? they didn't even try to have a message like those other ads about helping provide food and medicine, or getting an education and working on scientific research, or anything like that. it was just for the lonely kids looking for a place to be and that makes it one of the more disgusting ones imo. even compared to like "be a tough and honorable Man" or "see how much of your physical and mental capacity you can prove" that i think prey on toxic masculinity or the unfulfilled needs to prove oneself in society that looks down on and holds back so many people.

social connection is such a basic human need, isolated kids are always the most vulnerable to every kind of predator. i really think they could do a better job of hiding their hand at the disturbing lengths they will go to to lure people into dying and killing to make the rich richer. i do get the impression that people are getting savvier at noticing and rejecting those forms of manipulation. i hope so.
