Worst fromsoft discourse go

1. Souls is elitist because it doesn’t satisfy my specific desires in video games

2. Conversely, “you haven’t really finished the game if you co-opped it”

3. Invasions & trolling as tantamount to videogame harassment & community toxicity

4. Gwyndolin’s “canon” gender/pronouns. this one’s tricky (and something i’ve admittedly engaged with like maybe two or three years ago) because i love gwyndolin and they’re a real point of identification for trans fans but like....... gwyndolin was never written to fit intelligibly into western trans discourses and you can bet none of the writers know shit about trans ppl in japan or elsewhere lol. Interpret the character however you want but arguing for what should be considered canon is a waste of breath

5. Does this count as discourse? A couple of years ago ENB did a playthrough of demon’s souls where he argued that the “canon” subtext of the game was that yuria had been abused in captivity and the “canon” message was that she emerged a better person for it because she no longer desired demon’s souls i.e. she had been “corrected”. the whole segment he was defending this reading by saying like “don’t look at me it was the writers who put this in” like.... nah dude that’s 100% your reading........... it was Mortifying. Anyway i haven’t really enjoyed watching ENB videos since then lol
