With heavy set eyes, Alec watches as charcoal drapes catch on the breeze that has him burrowing further into the blanket currently wrapped around him. The winter chill somehow deepens the shadows that have claimed the loft, muting the world until it feels as gentle as the kiss Magus placed on his forehead before getting up to refill their drinks.
“Should I close the balcony doors?” Magnus asks as he glances away from the drink cart. He’s just about done mixing whatever concoction has already seeped into Alec’s muscles, soothing the sting of a post morning workout.
Alec shakes his head. “I kind of like it.” He likes the idea of running his hands under Magnus’ shirt even more. Dragging fingertips along grooves of muscle until chill is replaced by a steady, all-encompassing heat.
“Offer expires as soon as I’m back on the couch, Mr. Lightwood-Bane. I’d recommend considering it before it’s off the table.”
“I’ve always had my eyes set on the bigger picture,” Alec counters, with his mouth covered by the blanket. “And as far as I’m concerned, that’s having you back on the couch with me.”
"Well then, I better hurry up."
Backlit by the soft light pooling in from the kitchen, Magnus looks nothing short of incredible. Red highlighted hair falls casually over his forehead as shoulder muscles pull at fabric every time he gives their drinks a stir. It’s hard sometimes, looking at Magnus with those half smiles so often punctuated by a wink, to not question how he managed to find himself here. Tucked so comfortably in the presence of someone as amazing as Magnus. Given full access into the heart of the man who has helped shape the world.
There was a time when contemplating the vastness of Magnus Bane made Alec feel small. Like he stumbled into a world that wasn’t meant for him. But every time doubt tugged at him, Magnus was always there to wrap their fingers together and guide Alec deeper. Navigating every twist and turn until they were both caught in a current that neither one wanted to escape from. And every time Alec watched as Magnus pulled off each ring before joining him in bed, or yawned over a morning newspaper, he was reminded that this is the life he helped creat for himself. This beautifully golden thing was his, and he belonged here.
Eyes half-lidded and heavy, Alec wants nothing more than to be reminded of just that. To be wrapped between the blanket and Magnus' heartbeat, pressed into the solid expanse of skin until he can feel every rumble of laughter roll off Magnus like the thunder he stores deep inside himself. He wants to feel his skin prickle, welcoming the hum of Magnus’ energy as it reaches for him. Let it glide down his body until it settles into him.
Thankfully, Alec doesn’t need to wait for long. The couch shifts as Magnus rejoins him, placing the drinks on the coffee table in front of them. Instead of reaching for it, Alec opens the blanket just long enough to wrap Magnus inside and pull him into his arms. Magnus moves without protest, securing himself to Alec’s chest before sighing softly. In a matter of seconds, his breathing slows, and they linger here. Drifting in the softest solitude. In a space they spent years fighting for and crafting, until they finally had a place to call their very own. It’s everything Alec’s ever wanted. For himself, but more so for Magnus.
And it’s suddenly all too much but in the best way possible. Because he feels completely and utterly full with a love that’s radiating outwards, and Alec wants nothing more than to bask in it. He almost wants to ask Magnus how this is possible. Because feeling this good seemed unimaginable just a few years ago, and now all he has to do is cross the living room or roll over in bed to be flooded by the presence of it.
But before Alec can say anything, the space between them dissipates. With a fluid movement, Magnus turns, brushing his chest against Alec’s and lowering himself until Alec is lost in the softest lips. And it feels like freefalling. Tumbling between too many feelings to properly categorize, but they leave him sated just the same. He can spend the rest of his life chasing the taste of Magnus in his mouth.
Running his fingers down powerful arms, Alec falls deeper into the kiss, before his hands travel further down, down the grooves of abs, until he’s trailing the hem of a silken shirt.
“You’re freezing,” Magnus hisses as Alec shoves his hand onto Magnus’ stomach, but Alec refuses to let him break their embrace. “How is that even possible? You’ve been burritoed in this blanket for hours.”
Alec shrugs. “It’s the price you pay for leaving me in the cold.”
“Alexander, I could fill this room with eighteen fireplaces and you’d still be an iceberg.”
“You should have read the bylaws when you agreed to marry me.”
Magnus smiles then, a deep and genuine smile that seeps into Alec. “There’s nothing in this world that would have kept me from marrying you. But I’m closing the balcony doors.”
Before he can do that though, Magnus drops his forehead onto Alec’s chin and rests there. The loft has always felt comfortable, more his than his room at the Institute ever felt, but this, absorbing Magnus’ heat, placing gentle kisses along the top of his head, has always felt like home.
Hi! I hope you liked this short story, but i especially hope that you will pass a great holiday season! I wish you to be happy and loved! And I am sorry for the mistakes in the text, English is not my first language.

A very Malec Christmas
“Big bro. Don’t think that you not being here for Christmas is an excuse not to give me a present.”
“Don’t worry Izzy, the ten messages you sent me were enough for me not to forget that.”
“Love you too, Alec. Say hi to Magnus.”
“Bye, Izzy.”
Alec got off the phone and kept looking at the striking view he had from the balcony of his hotel room. He looked back toward the window when he heard the glass door slowly sliding and opening.
“Alexander, what are you doing on the outside without a coat?” Said Magnus, leaving the room and joining his boyfriend on the balcony. Once he reached Alec, he gave him a black coat while smiling at him.
“Thank you, Magnus.” The two of them kept looking at the view in front of them. No words were spoken for a few minutes. It was a beautiful silence, the silence you can only enjoy when any word isn’t enough to convey your love. The only sound was the one made by the wind, softly guiding some snowflakes in the air.
After a while Alec moved his gaze in Magnus’ direction, he felt at peace, he felt in love. It was winter, when they had met, three years ago.
FLASHBACK
It was a cold day of December, the streets were crowded, people were running around from one shop to the other trying to get the last gifts for their loved ones. In the human river stood and slowly walked a tall man, a black long coat and a purple scarf. Unlike everyone else, he wasn’t looking at the decorated windows of the shops, nor was in a hurry to get to his destination. After another few minutes he took a small road on the left and entered a café.
“Good afternoon, welcome to Java Jace, what can I… Oh. Hi, Alec!” said the blond barista behind the counter smiling at the man that had just entered.
“Hi, Jace. I’ll take the usual.” Said the man smiling back at the café owner. While taking off his scarf the tall black-haired man looked for a place to sit at, finding a free table at the corner of the shop, close to one of the big windows that had the view on the secondary road.
“So, bro, are you coming to the Christmas party? Maryse would like you to be there, you know that.” Said Jace putting a cup of coffee and a piece of Sacher cake on the table only to then lift his hand and put it on Alec’s shoulder.
“You know that I can’t go home, I…” tried to answer Alec.
“You know you can go back. Who cares about Robert, you don’t have to talk to him. Max misses you and, Alec, it’s Christmas, we need you there. We’re family.” Said Jace trying to convince the man sitting in front of him.
“I am sorry Jace… I just… how about you come to my place the next day, you can tell the others. We could have our own Christmas party.” Alec tried to convince the other man while still not looking at him in the eyes.
They both looked toward the door when they had heard a bell ring. “We’ll talk about that later” said the blonde, only to continue, this time talking to the new client “Hello, welcome to Java Jace, please take a seat wherever you like, I’ll be there in a second.”
Alec sighed, thanking the client that had distracted his brother from their discussion. He took a book from the bag he had with him and started reading while enjoying his coffee.
He kept reading for a few minutes, occasionally enjoying his drink, and getting lost in the printed words in front of him. The sounds surrounding him didn’t disturb him, he actually liked the background sound of the coffee grinder, the quite chatter coming form every corner and the noise made by the few cars passing by. That’s how he hadn’t noticed the man that had entered the café in that moment. He only slightly heard Jace reciting his welcome and the sound a beautiful laughter coming from the new client. He smiled thinking about the quiet time he was enjoying and about the peace people came to find at Jace’s place in the fast-changing city.
“May I sit here?” Said the man standing in front of Alec. Beautiful deep brown eyes and a smile able to warm you up even in the coldest nights. The tall guy was so distracted by the beautiful man that had asked him the question that for a few seconds he just stood in silence, only to quickly stutter “I… yeah, yes. Please…” Alec blushed blaming himself for his terrible interaction with the handsome stranger, while the latter sat down smiling.
“So Magnus, here’s your tea. But I am sorry, we just finished the Sacher cake. My brother” Jace said while pointing at Alec while still talking to the new client “got the last of it. Can I bring you something else?” he finished. “Don’t worry Jace, I’ll come earlier tomorrow so I’ll get to taste you amazing cake.” Said the stranger smiling at Jace and Alec couldn’t be sure, even at him.
“I’m Magnus. I don’t think we’ve been formally introduced.” Said the stranger shaking Alec’s hand. Now that the tall man could look at the stranger, at Magnus, taking his time, he noticed that said man was wearing a thin line of eye-liner and some glittery eyeshadow around his eyes. He was dressed in a beautiful white and golden dress-shirt and had his hair combed in a coiffe. “A- Alec. I am Jace’s brother.” Responded the man while smiling at the newcomer.
“How’s the cake. I heard it’s Jace’s speciality.” Said Magnus looking at Alec. “You can have it. I can get something else. I- sorry, I haven’t touched it, so if you want-you know, I don’t mind…” said Alec stuttering while blushing. “Don’t worry, Alexander. Maybe next time.” Answered the handsome man wearing make-up.
After that, the two started talking, starting from Jace’s sacher cake to their jobs or other anecdotes. After almost one hour Alec looked at the time and then out of the window. “It’s snowing.” Said Magnus following Alec’s eyes. “That reminds me of the time I’ve passed Christmas in Vienna. There I had the best Sacher ever, but don’t tell you brother.” Continued the handsome stylish man.
Alec smiled. He would have loved to know about Magnus’ time in Vienna, or anything else about the mysterious man. But he had to leave, his last train was in a few minutes. “I won’t tell him, don’t worry… I have to leave. It was nice to meet you, Magnus”.
The taller man started putting on his coat and tightening his scarf. He took his back and slowly started leaving the café while waving at Jace, who was standing behind the corner.
“Pretty boy” called Magnus. At which Alec turned around only to see the other man in front of him. “Here’s my number, I’d like to have coffee with you again… the next Sacher is on me. Have a nice evening, Alexander” continued the glittery man, only to then turn around and hear back to his table. Alec looked at the small piece of paper only to put it in his coat’s pocket while hiding a smile behind his purple scarf.
END FLASHBACK
Like that day was wearing a white and golden shirt under his purple coat, that matched perfectly his nail-polish, while his hair was hidden under a beanie. His eyes seemed focused on something to far from the balcony that only he could see, and while one of his hand was in a pocket of his coat, the other was left in the cold on the railing of the balcony. “Beautiful.” said Alec while still looking at his other half and taking the others cold hand into his warm one. Magnus turned his head and smiled at Alec, leaning towards him to get more warmth, and maybe just to be closer to him. “we should get inside” continued the young man while kissing the other’s hand. “You’re freezing”.
“Maybe you should keep me warm.” Said Magnus laughing and slowly moving toward the room.
*****
“I told you that you would have loved it!” said Magnus while taking a spin and theatrically putting his arms in the air. And he was right, Alec had loved the city. During his childhood he never had the chance to travel, his parents never took him and his siblings on holiday for more than a few days and never outside the US. This was his first time in Europe, and he couldn’t be happier to share this experience with who he was certain was his soulmate, Magnus.
Magnus took Alec’s hand in his and they started skating on the ice. Even here everything looked amazing, you could breathe the history in every tree and bench, but especially in the old buildings that looked as if taken out of a fairy tale. The Rathaus was illuminated by purple and blue lights, while on the other side of the rink the Burgteather seemed to glow because of the white lights decorating it.
“I keep coming back” said Magnus while looking in front of him. “I know it seems weird and cliché… but this city is magical”.
“You’re right. It’s beautiful.”
“This is the third time here… you know what they say: three times the charm. But in all seriousness, this time is the best one.” Magnus laughed, and when Alec didn’t join him, he looked at him. “Alexander. Is something bothering you?” Asked Magnus while looking at his boyfriend.
“What!? No… I’m sorry, I was just lost in thoughts” answered Alexander, smiling back at his other half. “Would you like to take a walk? These skates are killing me. I am too old for that.” Continued the younger man.
“Absolutely. Vienna is really romantic at night.” Said Magnus while squeezing Alec’s hand a little tighter. “Let’s go then! Do you have any place in mind?”
“Actually, I do” answered Alec.
The two walked close to each other toward a tram stop.
“We’re taking a tram?” Asked Magnus, who thought they would take a walk in the area.
“Yes, I told you, I am too old for these things” They both laughed at Alec’s comment.
“Fine. I can’t believe I fell in love with an old man.” They kept laughing
****
“Well, that was nice.” Said Magnus, getting out of the tram and joining Alec on the ground. “It’s amazing”, he continued while looking at one of the most beautiful ferries-wheels in the world.
“Let’s take a ride” said Alec taking once again Magnus’s hand in his and running toward the attraction. They ran for a few minutes until they got at the entrance.
“Wait for me, I’ll get the tickets.” Said Alec before leaving his boyfriend only to walk toward the counter. After a minute the man came back to his partner while being followed by a member of the staff.
“Herr Lightwood, Herr Bane, kommen Sie mit, bitte.” Said the young man to the couple. Saying that Magnus was confused would be an understatement, he looked at Alec trying to communicate his uncertainty trough his eyes. Alec smiled at him and as if to calm him down took his hand while they walked together following the Austrian man in front of them.
“Hello! Welcome to the Riesenrad!” said an elderly woman standing behind a counter. “Would you like to take a picture?” The couple was in fact passing close to a photo booth that looked like one of the cabins of the ferries wheel. Magnus and Alec smiled at the lady, and after asking their guide if they had time they took position and followed the kind spoken orders of the old lady, that was now standing behind a camera.
“Perfect! Stay closer. Just like that! And now a last one… Thank you!” continued the photographer.
“We’ll take all of them. Can you put everything on my order please?” said Alexander, confusing Magnus once again.
“Alexander, what’s happening?” continued Magnus while still holding his boyfriend’s hand.
“Herr Lightwood, Herr Bane… bitte sehr.” Said the young Austrian man opening the door of the cabin and letting the couple in. Once they were inside Magnus started looking around while the young worker closed the doors and the wheel started moving again.
“Alexander…” Alec walked toward his boyfriend and kissed him on the front, at which the other closed his eyes, smiling. “Let’s celebrate!” said the younger man eyeing the champagne on the small table in a corner of the cabin and opening the bottle. Only then Magnus noticed the small Sacher cake sitting behind the bottle. His boyfriend, following the other’s eyes smiled and continued “this time you can have the cake, but if it’s better than Jace’s… let’s not tell him” he ended laughing.
“To us.” Said Alec giving a crystal glass to his other half while still smiling. They cheered and drank while looking at the romantic view on the city. Every building was glowing while some snow flakes started to fall around them and on the ground under them.
“Magnus…” said Alec, getting once again his boyfriend’s attention “we’ve been together for years now. We saw so many things, we both changed a lot, and so did our lives… but if there is a thing that has not changed is my love for you- I mean… that’s not how I wanted to say that… Every day my love for you keeps getting stronger, and I can’t imagine my life without you. Without your smile, without your caresses and even out small arguments…” Magnus stood still, slowly breathing with shock and love on his face. “And because I don’t want to live without you, there is something I want- I need to do. Magnus Bane, will you marry me?” finished the young man finally getting on one knee and taking a small purple velvet box from his coat pocket. Inside the box stood a ring. A simple silver band with a lilac gem INCASTONATA; it was simple, yet so beautiful.
“Yes. Yes, Alexandrer. My angel. I love you.” Said Magnus joining his boyfriend on the floor and kissing him, forgetting the ring and only paying attention to his real treasure, to his Alexander.
“I love you so much, Magnus.” Continued Alec taking his boyfriends left hand in his right one and sliding the ring on it, only to then lift it to his lips and leave a soft kiss on it.

I would definitely be interested :p (funny thing, I was actually wondering if you would do this just this morning…)
That is funny. Because what possible reason would you have to wonder if I'd do something like that? XD

IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION???? (aka yes please)
Kicking ass, and taking names since the Soviet era: Bucky and Natasha. Now featuring Clint and JARVIS and maybe Rhodey. (Possibly Sam if I figure out how he can fit into my universe because damn, I like him.)
