Top 3 Riven friendships?

I’m not actually sure I have 3. Mans is prickly.

1. Nabu. Most explicit and genuine friendship we see for him. I don’t really know what to say, it was just nice seeing him have a positive relationship with someone.

2. Tecna. Mostly based on this meta by @lambofzenith. As far as I’m concerned, it’s canon.

Not quite a full friendship but I like seeing the progression from him fully hating Brandon and Sky at the beginning of s1 to their banter in the tunnels under Cloud Tower.

Assuming the writers won't fuck them up again, logically speaking, do you think season 8 is the end of Rivusa drama? Do you think season 9 will be a new chapter for them?

I feel like it should be. Given what I know of S9, there might not be time in the episodes to have a bunch of recycled relationship drama. Which I guess I would count as a win?

By ‘end of drama’ I mean they have a functional and stable relationship. You still have drama no matter the stage of the relationship but it’s not... tv drama level.

Looking at your rankings by content, why do you think Tecna content is so scarce generally speaking?

I suppose the obvious answer is that Tecna is one of the most underappreciated and underrated characters in the show, and therefore people don’t generally create content for her specifically. I’m guilty of this, too. I tend to focus and hyperfixate on my core favorites. There’s also a shortage of canon material for her compared to the rest of the girls, which is why it may be harder to write for her and easier to write for others (like Bloom) who have more screen time.

Do you think Riven is a good specialist? How valuable are his skills compared to the others?

I think so. He’s definitely capable and based on skill alone he’s very valuable. Unfortunately he’s terrible with people which can be a deterrent.

Clarification of my question about Tecmy and Florelia being found boring. I saw a user write about how Tecmy aren’t actually the same person (lamb of zenith) but many people outside of tumblr say they are the same. I see many also saying Florelia are the same. So I would like to know your thoughts about that. (Disregard the other question)

Ahh I see! The short answer is no, neither couple are the same.

@lambofzenith's thoughts on Tecmy sum up most of mine so I won't get too into them for now. Most people think they're the same simply because they have very similar interests. But even their shared interest in technology differs in key areas! For instance, Timmy really likes the technology of the RF ships while Tecna isn't that interested in that (though she is just as knowledgeable about it). Or how Tecna relies a lot more on technology than Timmy does! When it comes to actual personalities, they're completely different.

Florelia are even more different! The thought that they're the same character is only applicable if you're looking at the fanon versions of both of them. Within canon, they're very different. For instance, Flora's tendency to overshare versus Helia never talking about himself. Or Flora's shyness being more of an anxiety thing and Helia not actually being that shy and instead is just overly cautious of what to say. Or Flora thinking everyone deserves a second chance versus Helia having a one strike system. Flora offering advice when she thinks people need it and often overstepping versus Helia only offering advice when other's ask or in the heat of the moment. Even their interests are worlds apart (Helia doesn't know a damn thing about plant care and it's actually really funny).

But yeah honestly? None of the main couples are that similar? Even Bloom and Sky and extremely different. The whole "it's the Winx and they're male counterparts" thing is like,, not accurate at all and comes from a place of people either not paying attention to the Specialists or only looking at their fanon versions.

No, I do actually like them together! They were at a pretty good place at the end of season four.

I have some more thoughts on season 8 Rivusa. I thought Rainbow had real balls to show parallels between Musa's parents being able to play the harp and Rivusa being able to play the harp. They're basically saying Riven is her future husband? Do you think the two will be able to sustain a marriage (after season 8)?

If we're going for what would be sensible, after the conversation Riven and Musa should be able to have a functioning and healthy relationship (marriage or not). What they do with S9 though, might not follow any kind of logic.

I don't think it was ballsy of Rainbow to daw the parallels as much as lazy since it was the most straightforward and easiest thing to do.

The couples do all seem to be end game, so I assume that they are saying that Riven x Musa will be together forever.

Besides art and physical ed, what subjects do you think Helia would perform best in? What about Flora?

in a normal earth school setting or in a red fountain/alfea setting?

hmm,, both of them are canonically really good students (think all A's, ap classes, etc), even in the subjects they aren't great in, so honestly i think they'd perform well in everything. i think for them it'd be more of a which comes the easiest thing yknow? for normal earth setting, i think flora would do well in creative writing and language classes! she would also do well in science, specifically biology and maybe even chem? i'm not too sure about helia actually? he'd definitely do well in things like literature and language classes. i imagine he'd also like things like anthropology, sociology, psychology, etc (yknow all the People stuff).

in the rf/alfea setting, flora excels in all her classes but we do know she's really good in potionology and magiphilosophy! hmm again, helia is also canonically good in all his classes 😔 he seems to be best in hand-to-hand combat (though he rarely uses it) and strategizing (is that even a class)!
