Yeah, I totally agree with you. When I reblogged that post, it wasn’t because I was speculating whether that is a relationship she’s in. I don’t know whether that’s exactly what others are doing, but I know that people are upset with the language used as “gal pals” is typically queercoding for lesbians, particularly when denying that relationship its true nature, so that’s probably part of why people are upset. Because the language hit a sore spot.

I know that it’s queercoding and I know the media has literally denied lesbian relationships by using “gal pal” (such as with Michelle Rodriguez), but those relationships were confirmed romantic relationships. The women were telling people “no, we are dating. we are girlfriends. this is not platonic”. KStew and Alicia Cargile aren’t doing that. Until/Unless either of them comes out and says “yes, we are in a romantic relationship”, I think we need to stick to pointing out the media’s homophobia using acknowledged relationships, such as Michele Rodriguez’s.

I can't believe you've had to defend that post so much. It's mind blowing how defensive people can get, even when the evidence is laid out before them.

It really is mind boggling sometimes. A few people have jumped in to defend it too outside of me so those people I'm letting have their own discussion but yeah.

This evidence isn't actually that tough to find... on the upside I only got anon hate the first two days it was circulating! (And only a few pieces, I was expecting a lot more to be honest lol)
