*deep sigh* every time. every time. and even if they have good takes on everyone else they'll just... ignore megumis existence and his impact on the story. which is insane because its like trying to talk about bnha without mentioning bakugou as if hes not the best written character in the entire series.

theres a genuine phenomenon of like collective erasure of megumi from the entire fandoms mind and opinion that its insane. i think its the aftereffects of lobotomy kaisen, which.. HOW are we still feeling the aftershocks of this in the era of the internet where trends and meme die faster than theyre born, like????

Genuine question, but does it ever like..drive you insane or something about the way it’s hard to find good analytical content in JJK regarding like the actual themes of hyper individualism vs community, or generational trauma or labor extraction, or abuse of the youth? I mean, it’s hard to find any good commentary or analyses on JJK, specifically in regards to Megumi and character dynamics in general, because a lot of content creators just go along with agenda stuff or the bad faith critiques and such?

Also, I’m curious because you’ve mentioned it before in small bits but I genuinely wonder; How do you feel about how powerscaling obsessed the fandom is or what it’s done to the way the manga and anime are interpreted?

it drives me insane. every. fucking. day. truly. at this point its just a steady line of dissapointment. every time i go down to eat i have to remind myself that no i cant watch a jjk analysis video cus theres no any good ones. every time i scroll on tiktok and see a good, popular edit - same overdone memes that were never funny (except for "theres something you need to adress". and only that exact version of it).

about the absolute lack of ANY literacy and just.. falling for everything capitalist propaganda has to offer and all rightwing brainwashing just so you dont think about anything ever (because YES IT IS THAT DEEP, espcially for the americans!!): ive been so mad, angry, dissapointed and full of disbelief that im just tired. if i were to talk about the rage i feel at so much of this bullshit, id be posting just about that every. fucking. day.

like its so bad that discussing it in anyway feels redundant. and the worst part is: Because Of It Every. Analysis. Or Clapback To The Braindeadness. Feels Redundant.

so it takes so. much. time and space. to just disprove these fucking dumbasses. that Especially In Megumis Case - max 5 points about his characters in every. analysis. are repeated over and over again and its not even proper analysis or deep dive, because its all so fucking surface level.

and what also pisses me off - and i do feel kinda bad about it because i KNOW its in good faith and im sure im guilty of that too - is the constant stooping down to the level of idiots who never read a proper chapter of the manga. because the idiots and the losers and the cunts always talk about the same shit, everywhere you get the same 5 counterarguments - Where There Shouldnt Be An Argument

there is a category of history as a science called "microhistory" - its where you construct a historic narrative about the smallest of human samples - a history of a village, a decade in a city, stuff like that. micro scale compared to the entirety of humanity. its purpose is to show macro scale events - war, famine, plagues, revolutions - on a micro scale

i believe the jjk fandom as it was (and im so afraid is gonna be once season 5 starts airing) and still is unfortunately (but its calmer these days im sure) a microhistory of the Literacy and Thinking crisis as well as the rise of conservatism and fascism, how easily we fall for propaganda and just how much our brains are rotten and how much purity culture is destroying culture as it has for the past century.

on a lighter note, from the agenda stuff there are exactly two things i found funny: "the strongest sorcerer available" and "theres still something you need to adress". and while the "adress me" stuff eased in terms of funniness, "the strongest sorcerer available" makes me laugh to this day.

I wish fans were more open to the discussion of the Sukufushi dynamic without instantly assuming you ship them romantically or actually romanticize it. It’s like assuming including problematic things in media means endorsing it. Because yeah, I think the dynamic between Sukuna and Megumi is interesting BECAUSE ITS HORRIBLE and Sukuna should get away from that boy, not because I think it’s endearing that Sukuna preyed on him. Fandom purity culture and morality testing is a curse

(Honestly though you’re one of the few people in this fandom I’ve seen actually analyze their dynamic specifically from the predator-victim perspective WITHOUT fetishizing it and I really love reading your analyses on it)

sukufushis dynamic is such an excellent deconstruction of what love is deemed to be. Because of the rise in purity culture weve had this amanormative push that anything thats not the healthiest and purest and whatever love is not "true love the good kind", which as a person on the aroace spectrum is just... misrepresenting the real spectrum of human connection??
