Hi! I'm in love with your comic, and I myself have been thinking about starting one, only... I have no idea how to. Could you give me a few pointers or tips on how to get one started and printed? How many hours do you spend on each page? How do you pace yourself without getting bored and/or frustrated?
Hi! I’d be glad to help with all the technical stuff :) I spend roughly from 3 to 8 hours on a page but that depends on what’s actually on it. The more character/details, the longer the work! I take a break every 1,5 h but I rarely draw a page in one sitting. I have this funny mindset that if I feel bored with something then I just naturally stop and get back to it the next day; what’s the point of doing something if you’re not enjoying the process! You should be excited about your comic/idea because that will keep you motivated to work on it.After you decide upon the plot/genre it’s important to chose the comic’s format and page size! If you want it to be printed it’s important that you keep the page size/format consistent all the time, otherwise it’s gonna be a real pain later on when you’ll be putting it together. Remember not to make your canvas too small and with little dpi or the pictures will look blurry when printed and all your hard work will go to waste! If you wanna post stuff online, PNG is the way to go; if you want to print your pages CMYK JPEG is the stuff! Pages are being put together in a book form using special software like e.g. Adobe InDesign. And the most important thing when it comes to art in general: make mistakes faster! Not every segment will be perfect, heck, the first chapter WILL be a GIANT DISASTER, so stop putting things off and just get to it! I hope I answered your questions! Have a nice day :)
