How I imagine Lafayette giving President John Quincy Adams an alligator would've went down:
Lafayette: Bonjour, Monsieur Adams!
John Quincy Adams: Bonjour, Monsieur Lafayette! How are you? How've you been?
Lafayette: I am well! Listen, I have a gift for you!
Adams: Lafayette, You shouldn't have!!
Lafayette: I know, but I have no use for it, so I decided to give it to you!
Adams: Well, what is it?
Lafayette: You're very own alligator!!

THE ISLE OF BRIMSKER (Frozen Light)
A lighthouse keeper lives alone on a desolate outcrop surrounded by stormy seas. Change is on the horizon but not in the form she expects. One day a runaway lands on the shore and together they face the inevitable.
The Isle of Brimsker immerses audiences with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in a multi-sensory story of discovery. The Isle of Brimsker is the latest bold and exciting production from touring theatre company Frozen Light, who have been creating imaginative and meaningful multi-sensory work for audiences with PMLD since 2013.
The Isle of Brimsker has been developed specifically for audiences with PMLD. People with PMLD have complex and profound disabilities and may have associated communication difficulties. This performance has been structured to provide an accessible and theatrical environment which responds to the needs of this group by being performed at a close proximity, to small groups and with strong sensory and participation elements. The show includes individual interaction between each audience member, the performers and their companions as well as collective sensory moments that everyone can enjoy together.
In supplement to tickets for audience members with PMLD and their carers, we a limited number of general audience members. Many of the carers who have been to previous shows say that the show inspired them to use some of the multi-sensory techniques employed by the theatre company, so you or your colleagues may well find the show rewarding. Tickets can be bought over the phone from the Dorchester Arts box office or in person at Dorchester Corn Exchange (Mon - Fri 10am - 4pm).
Commissioned by Harlow Playhouse, The Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre, Bordon; Vivacity Key Theatre, Peterborough. With support from Arts Council England; house; The Garage Norwich, The Point Eastleigh, Dorchester and District Lions and Dorset Mencap.
“The way the show is so carefully tailored to the audience’s needs provides a vital reminder that theatre can accommodate everyone.” The Stage
