The BIG MIX (Charleston, SC) started in 2011 simply as a way to express my frustrations with the lack of Southern inclusion (not to mention unity/general awareness among Southern based brands) in the streetwear industry.
Forward to 2013 and the BIG MIX is now a weekend long event, complete with a pre-party, a brand expo to showcase the wares of independent brands, an after party, and brunch! It was also at this years iteration of the BIG MIX in which I announced my decision to turn H1GHER LEARNING into a non-profit organization.
Here is a video recap created by the gentlemanly trio behind the Sovereign Space website.
For your information, I'll be hosting this event every year but in addition to showcasing streetwear culture, I'll be using this event as an annual fundraiser to help H1GHER LEARNING reach it's philanthropic goals and bring exposure to OTHER facets of Southern youth culture.
