A lot of you have been asking about my next story. 

It’s coming, soon.

And when I say soon, I mean within the next few days. 

It’s a long one, and one I’m incredibly nervous about posting. I even illustrated it.

I have been chiseling at it for months and have allowed a select few mentors in the health care field to give feedback on it. Their input was crucial in helping me hone in on a good message. One mentor said “it packs quite a wallop.” while the another said “THIS. IS. SO. GOOD.”

I’m pretty excited to share it with you. Keep a look out.

Hi Roheet! what online magazines/articles/websites do you recommend to gain a wider understanding of the medical/scientific events occurring around us? Mostly asking because i'm interested in this sorta stuff =)

www.thebiopsy.com/readings lists some of the stuff I read. I haven’t updated it in a while, but that’s a good place to start. You can subscribe to periodic digests from scientific journals, if hard science is more your style. 

FastCompany, Wired, Entrepreneur (and Young Entrepreneur), WSJ, NYT, and, believe it or not, Reddit, are great websites I peruse.

If you’re on Twitter, track #HCSM, #digitalhealth, #twitjc, #MedEd and more (check out Symplur for a pretty exhaustive list) to get a curated feed of what people in those sectors find interesting. Feel free to see who I follow to get a sense of my information curation.

I noticed you said you use notability! Do you have any stylus recommendations?

I use a free stylus that I got from a conference. It's cheap and it gets the job done while keeping money in the bank. If you want something that will last, go for styli that have durable tips that don't deform easily. In terms of brand recommendations, I have none as I haven't used any. I seem to get by just fine with stylus you find in conference swag bags.

I saw that you use Notability for digital note-taking; I'm thinking about switching to an all-digital workflow, but a little overwhelmed by the options (Evernote vs. OneNote vs. Notability vs. GoodNote vs. a host of others). Any notes on why you chose Notability / what software might work best for different kinds of note-taking?

You're going to laugh when I say why - Notability was free on the Apple Appstore at the end of last school year. That's why I downloaded Notability. 

At the end of the day, all of the options are pretty similar and will get the job done. You'll be able to adapt them to any kind of notes you need to take in med school. As a student, my main concern is price. Evernote requires a premium subscription for access to all its features, which I frankly don't want to pay up, so I use its freemium capabilities to their furthest extent.

If you have a Surface tablet, then definitely go with OneNote, as it is pretty fully featured and you can write/draw on everything. One of my classmates has that combo and he swears by it.

Do you use moleskines?

I do not. I believe those are ladykaymd's territory. I'm more of a digital note taker; I use Notability. I dislike the clutter of paper notes and, given the copious amount of notes you take in med school, I would have been very unhappy. That being said, if paper and pen are your thing, keep at it. Use what works for you!

Med school; the only time when answering "No." to the question "Have you been outside today?" is acceptable.
