“You say this like it’s somehow my problem, Stiles…” Derek snarked quietly, rolling his eyes even though the younger male couldn’t actually see him. Biting back a sigh, he stepped closer, reaching down and taking a hold of his hand. “Follow me.”
❝ Oh ha ha !
Yes , let’s pick on the human & my pitiful human senses. ❞
SARCASM LATHERED HEAVILY ALONG his tone , curling around & sharpening each word that slipped past his lips. covering & concealing the minute incline of fear that leeched its way through his mind. not that he was afraid of the dark , opposite actually , but to have all visual sensory input cut off so suddenly would panic any human for a moment. or so he told himself , as derek seemed perfectly content in the blackness that painted the entire room.
❝ But seriously I can't see sh— ! ❞
NEAR LEAPING OUT OF his own skin at feeling a hand slide into his , a small yip of startlement & encroaching fear emitted unwittingly from his own throat. heart rate increased , not racing but definitely hammering in that moment , at the fright , only to slowly ease at hearing it was just derek beside him. he didn’t even hear the guy walk over to him , freaking werewolf creeping - ness.
PANIC EASING AT THE realisation , stiles relaxed marginally. allowing derek to guide ( pressing his lips together he valiantly fought off any jokes that came to mind about derek being a good seeing - eye dog ) him , placing a new level trust in the older man’s hands. literally as the lights continued to stay out & the room continued to exhibit an inky blackness that left visibility still at zero.
❝ My toes' lives are in your hands.
I would say life , but I’d like the think the worst you’d do is run me into a door or have me stub my toes.
Not that it’d be on purpose , well maybe , I don’t know , but y’know.
I’d appreciate not having my face slammed into a wall or any damage done to my toes. ❞
SPEAKING ONLY TO FILL the silence & distract his jittery nerves , not truly paying attention exactly what was flowing past his tongue. simply using his ability to mindless chatter , it wasn’t rambling that was different , to diffuse the lingering anxiety he could feel thrumming through his chest. completely diverting his focus from the situation had always worked better than telling himself it was almost over , thus he continued the age old method.
