Yarawa Island lies off Yasawa Island in the Yasawa Group on the western edge of Fiji. In 1949 and 1980 two versions of The Blue Lagoon movie were filmed in this area.

From the Blue Lagoon yesterday. Most people think it is natural wonder. The water is natural but the lagoon is man-made. The water is a byproduct from the nearby geothermal power plant Svartsengi where superheated water is vented from the ground near a lava flow and used to run turbines that generate electricity. After going through the turbines, the steam and hot water passes through a heat exchanger to provide heat for a municipal water heating system.
